So this winter i want to see what all these lights can grow. I have done Peppers, Canna, and now on to lettuce. I know it seems simple, but at the same time why not see what all these can do, as there is no point in letting them collect dust.

Ambient temps are 72-74, temps in tent are between 75-78.

Tent is the same 3x3x5'6''
4 x 1 cubic foot fabric grow pots
P300 x 2
10in fan.

It will be growing romaine and baby spinach and then once the spinach and romaine have run a bit my F2 Peppers will be introduced into the room. They have just broken the soil, and are awaiting the transplant once the second set of leaf come on. So i know its not canna but at the same time i know that it will be interesting to watch what all can be grown from these lights.

So a little update

Here are the F1 cross of the Jalapeno x Tabasco. I got 10 seeds from the pod that came off the mother plant and 7 germinated.

Seems that pepper seeds like to sprout rather quickly and this has been tested a few times. I have even taken seeds from peppers that i have bought at the store and germinated the seeds the same way. Once i clean them from the pod, ill dry them for a good two weeks. Sit them on a paper towel and in a warm dry place. By 2 weeks they are usually ready to go. You can take one of them and snap them and if they break clean they are ready. I always direct soil germ my pepper seeds and they can and will take 7-12 days to germinate. Seems that pepper seeds like to take their time in getting started.

To do this i usually use the following method, as it has proved successful so many times with canna. I use a 4in pot, green house style starter pots. Add my soil and then take about 50Ml of water and soak the center of the pot. Add the seed there and then cover lightly, then add a 6oz clear cocktail cup as a humidity dome. You can see this here.

The one thing that i do with canna that i dont do with peppers is place them in a papper towel first. When i germ my canna i always use the paper towel and then to soil method. With the dome they are up in 24 hours after showing the white tail in the paper towel.

nice. i've also just started some trinidad scorpion chilis about 1+ weeks ago.
10 seeds, soaked a couple of hours, have 8 sprouts.
they're still small seedlings now, putting down roots.
they're at the window sil, getting some average light for now.
will move under my new mars hydro reflector 192 in mars 120x120x200 tent soon.

:jointman: I wanna see shots of your flaming, sweaty forehead from them chili's you grew- :hothot: :crying: iiioouuuuuweeee! Mah tung ahn fi-yo bubba! Post us some chili porn my friend, while the salad cooks more,...
.... I love the tent set-up FD, it looks fab' in there,...clean, dialed and ready for the brass pole to get installed- - n-tsss n-tsss n-tsss!! ... Ah, the Gatlin gun monster CFL - .. my first light ever, and still have it! Perfect for such duties,... :pass:

Right now the platinum lights are running my Romaine and Spinach patch, the wife and i eat a lot of greens and the stuff you buy does now last as long as home grown and we eat pounds of greens a week. The test here is to see what the light can do with other consumable plants. I have seen what they can do with the peppers so now its time to test them in other sorts.

Looking at growth i dont think that i will need to hit the bloom switches on these the veg cycle lighting may be enough for them to thrive, however having 2 in there i can test at both levels.

Sounds like you got some heaters over there. I may venture down that line one day but these are two of my fav peppers. I wouldnt mind adding something like that to the line one day but want to see what these are first.

Peppers are just as much a passion for me as canna is, they are amazing to watch grow and lovely to eat.

They should be something interesting and i cant wait to see what the pods look like. Most of them if not all of them will take life under the monster CFL. Peppers seem to respond to them well, they like the light that is put off. I have had some monster pepper plants that lived under nothing but CFL light.

However the best plants out of the 7 will go under the platinums to see what they can do in size so i can select the best mom from that side.

oooo, vigorous little buggers aren't they! :coffee: I agree, they're hardly asking for more light,.. yes indeedy it would be fun to see what happens with running one with bloom,.. even with the spill over light, the ones directly under the bloom should show something notable,...
 got some pics of dried peepers FD? I want to see what that yummy sounding Jala' x Tabasco looks like,... what's the flavor like?
