New Grower My First Grow - x4 Dedoverde Haze 400w HID

Looks great bro you may be doing this already but I would rotate those girls 90 or 180 degrees at least once a day.

Good idea, I actually wasn't rotating them, but will be startiiing now u.u

Hey Skurge, your plants are lookin gr8.. relax a little man.. I know what its like at the start lol I think we're all the same.. one leaf out of place causes panic :) Anyway.. if they continue like they've started you'll harvest some pretty mean buds :) great start bro ;)

Thanks bro, I've definitely been able to relax a bit more. I was most stressed when waiting for them to sprout and develop their first couple sets of true leaves. Now that they're up and growing I've definitely been a bit more laid back.

Day 17

So sexy time occurred sometime between days 15-16 (the ladies are officially ladies, even the runt has a couple pistils popping out). I assume it's normal for them to show sex this early being autos? They're all putting off a very faint scent, standard unburnt/wet nug smell is the only way I can explain it.

Not sure exactly when I want to switch from MH to SHPS. Can't seem to find any solid info about it for autos, should I wait for vertical growth to slow/stop and switch to the SHPS after I flush and switch to bloom nutes? Or should I switch to SHPS sometime around day 21-25 since they're already showing sex. Not sure what to do for the best growth/yield. My gut is telling me to stick with the MH until vegetative growth slows down, change to SHPS after I flush and start the bloom regimen.

I'm also wondering if I really need to wait for this pro mix to completely dry out before watering again. I know that with coco you can run nutrient solution thru daily, even if it's still damp (this is like 30-33% coco 25-30% perlite the remainder is peat).

They've still only been taking 500-600 ml around every 36 hours (when pots feel pretty light, but not completely dry, and soil is still slightly damp 2-3" down). But there isn't any drooping going on. The leaf tips on 1-2 of them will curl down directly after watering and pop back up a few hours later. Assuming this is just caused by the shock of water hitting the roots (water is around 7-12F less than room temp), I've also read that this is just normal behavior from some strains/plants. I just want to make sure I'm not overwatering. If I am feeding with EVERY watering, then I wouldn't want to let them completely dry out correct? This mix is also very well aerated and in elevated fabric pots, so I'm assuming overwatering would be pretty hard.

I'll upload some more pics in a few days.

Go with your gut on the bulbs, and the watering you don't have to let them get bone dry the object isn't to see droop before watering it's to get dry enough for oxygen gets in to the roots without droop before watering again. And your right the promix dries quickly you would really have to be watering a lot to drown those roots

Day 18

Gave them their first 1L feed today, each got 500 ml initially and another 500 ml 30-45 minutes later. Hopefully they'll be ready for another by day 20. They've been taking 500 ml around every 36 hours up to this point. This pro mix doesn't seem to be drying out as fast as I expected, hoping they'll be able to take 1L per day soon.

They showed sex sometime between day 14-16 (noticed the pistils on day 17, some were already 1/2" long ), never noticed the preflowers because they were so tiny and I wasn't really looking for them at that point.

Starting to put off a pretty strong odor, hoping vertical growth picks up in the next couple weeks, tallest is still only around 7", shortest (the runt) is 5".

Light is currently 14-16" from the tops, according to my "back of the hand" test, I could get it as close as 8-10", but thinking I'll just let them grow into that range and start moving it up, rather than moving it down now.

Vertical growth hasn't been too great the past couple days, but a lot of the secondary growth is coming in nicely.

The Runner Up

Currently the tallest at 7". The second set of true leaves has a small yellow/amberish spot (on both of the second sets, center digit), not too worried about it for now. You can see the spot if you look closely (bottom right), other side has the same thing.

Brown Spots

Currently around 6" tall, 3rd set of true leaves have some chunks missing on all 3 center digits, not sure what caused this. I let my soil get really dry early on to promote root growth. The top got pretty hard and crusty so I "plowed" it with a fork before the next watering. I was a bit careless and a small chunk of soil got inside the new growth on the main stem, maybe that caused some burn or something?

The Runt

Currently 5" tall, still being all runty and stuff. Pretty sure it has to do with the pot, this one plant is in a different brand of smart pot.

The Champ

Currently 6" tall. Early on this was the healthiest looking lady, with the most uniform growth. But for some reason she's fallen to second plalce.

I'm worried that my "runt" (back left) isn't getting as much light as the other 3 because it's about 1-2" further away from the light, and will continue to grow slower. Right now it's sitting at about 5 1/2 - 6" and is 15-16" from the MH. The tallest (front left) is about 8" (actually gained about an inch overnight, must be entering stretch) and is 13" from the MH.

Should I put a book or something underneath to get her closer? Or does it not matter? I'm afraid that she's going to get overshadowed by the other 3 and continue to get less and less light if growth keeps going the way it has been.

Or should I leave it where it is to promote stretching in the hopes that it will catch up to the other 3?

Guess that's what I get for putting one plant in a different pot u.u

I'm also thinking that the ladies don't have many roots near the surface. Even when the pots get light, the soil 1-2" down is still moist. Gave them 1L yesterday and they are at least 2/3 lighter now than they were after watering, but the soil is still damp immediately under the surface. Going to start going solely by weight and say screw the moisture test.

Decided to feed them again earlier today, and they're definitely not over watered. I'm guessing the top couple inches of soil is remaining moist due to lack of roots near the surface, pots were VERY light compared to after water weight.

Started B 52 Sensizym and Rhino Skin today, feed was around 600 PPM PH 6.0-6.1. It's now about 8-9 hours later and I'm noticing some slight yellowing on some of the tips (only about 1mm and mostly on new growth). If it doesn't get any worse I'll likely keep the feed where it's at and put off going from 1.2 to 1.4 ml/l of A+B for a couple days.

On the plus side, the runner up grew about 1.5" in less than 24 hours, also believe brown spots and the champ are entering stretch... They're all 8-10" now, but the runt is still sitting at a solid 6", she's only about 1 set of true leaves behind the other three, but the vertical growth just isn't there.

Looking great so far man beautiful young ladies. I wouldn't worry much with the runt some seem to get thir feet (roots) under them before the explosion of growth.. I had sc2 pinned as a runt at first but she blew up and doubled the yield of sour crack 1 ... if you want you can place something under her to even her up with the rest but the few inches probably won't hurt. If she does turn out to be a runt then I would add something if she does being to be shadowed by the bigger girls.... great job so far and good attention to detail I promise it will pay off. And learning when to water by weight is a great way to do it all of your plants even if the same strain will drink water at different amounts at different times

Thanks kind sir, I'm pretty sure the runt is just going to stay smaller because of the pot she's in... The 3 others are in 100% cylindrical fabric pots and are all within 1" of each other, the runt is in a g-lite (more rectangular, can't notice it much from the top, but the bottom of the pot has still maintained it's rectangular shape). So I think she is going to be shorter, but wider than the others, or maybe the roots are taking a bit longer to find the sides of the pot because of the shape.

The funny thing is they all seem to be drinking at around the same pace, even the runt, or the soil is just drying out in a uniform fashion for some other reason. I gave them all 1L on day 18, lifted all 4 pots which were very heavy, and about 28 hours later they all felt very light even though the top 1-2" of soil was still damp... My guess is there aren't many roots directly near the surface, and since moisture rises those top 2-3" are the last to dry.

I'm wondering if anything aside from nutrient burn can cause tips to yellow. From my understanding burnt tips don't recover, but some of the tips that I thought were going yellow last night are now a healthy green again. Spent about 2 hours googling "yellow leaf tips" and everything said nute burn.

Also, I can tell it's going to get pretty crowded in there.... I thought 4 plants in a 2x4 space wouldn't be an issue, but some of the leaves are almost touching the walls already
