New Grower MoonMan's Grow Journal

Day 12 a couple shots of the bigger ones. Really only galaxy brain isn’t big, but it’s still looking healthy just not as big.

Pulled the light up from 20” to 24”, and dialed the blue back 5% so I’m sitting at 60/40 blue dominate spectrum.

I want to get a couple of inches of hight to the base of the plants because the fan leaves are touching the edges of the pots. Not looking for too much stretch right now tho.

will prob post some more pictures tomorrow or the day after.

Day 12?

(It's an older me me but I think it still checks out)
The lights, soil and genetics have been killer. I’ve been doing my best to stay out of the equation ha.

I think I’m going to go easy on nutes, at least until they get a little more developed, I’m not sure I love how they are reacting to the feeding so far, but it also might be a slight over watering.

I’ll post some pictures tomorrow for people to judge.

Ok ya few pics of what I am talking about. Nothing major but want to see if people have thoughts. I need a ph meter honestly, but otherwise not sure if I just didn’t need to nute or maybe in the start the light was too strong on the lower sections, I originally had it at 70% and have moved it down to 60%

On day 14 here.

I don't know about the leaf issues but, I got the Milwaukee Instruments PH600Aq off amazon. I didn't like the $10 ones from China and I'm not ready for a real nice Apera or BlueLab yet. It was ~$20 and you can calibrate it. It was made in Romania so it might be slightly better than the cheap Chinese ones. Count on some extra $$ for calibration fluid, storage fluid, and ph up/down kit. I bought the full up/down set, which came with a nice pipette since I had no idea where my water was. I assume most people will only need ph down. My water is 8.8 and crusty, no tds meter but man, everything gets insta build up. I got amazon/cheap fluids. they work fine.

Thanks for the link! That sounds like a good solution

Day 16.
Tucked the fans to expose some of the new growth have a before and after picture. These guys are super stubby so I’m hesitant to try lst right now.

turned the light up to 70% over the past 3 days and the plants seem to be responding better. I think I will continue to raise it 5% every few days.

I also ordered a soil moisture and ph meter because IM having trouble guaging the moisture level even with the ol’ lift test.

So after tucking the leaves and looking more last night I decided to trim 2-3 fan leaves on each plant. The big fans were pushing and crushing the little guys and not making it any better. I used the approach @Mañ'O'Green suggested in another thread and just snipped the end of the leave, not the whole leaf to the stem.

I also gave them a nice water today. I brought them out of the tent and put them on some risers so I could see the runoff start and know they were actually full watered. I also fed them at half strength again. I'll post a photo tonight or tomorrow morning and see how they are doing after the food and haircut.

A few of them are looking like they are starting to stretch out a little bit, which I think isn't bad at this point.

Filled the soil a little closer to the top, it will cover the seedling soil I germinated in. Just felt like building it up a little higher and had the extra.

it seems to be doing alright here with the couple leaves trimmed. But it’s been less than a day so I’m not gonna get ahead of myself.
