Day 60

Photo update (Questions also!)

Question 1. Speed Devil #2 Harvest at 60 Days?

Grow Tent
Grow tent 18.jpg
This above, is Afua (the tall pheno) is either dying or has a great cal-mag lockout?

Tech details: for some unknown reason the run off has gone to 5.7 on this one pot, the others are 6.2-6.4 Amma-Akua.

Akua

Hi All,

Day 63

Major problem discovered today!

Haven't been too well after the xmas excesses (No sympathy!), so have only been giving the girls a quick check over the last few days when they have been watered. Anyway, opened the tent today and found little gnats/midges flying around in the tent. Not a huge amount, caught half a dozen or so but, I'm pretty sure there will be more.

Bastard things. :cuss:

So, do I havest now and deep clean the tent ready for the BAM Slam or carry on trying to pick the gnats/midges off as they appear? As I won't be using any chemicals to get rid of them, I feel that the problem will transfer to the next grow.

Are they small, black, and slow flying? Don't freak out and chop everything haha, those are common and not very damaging, mostly just annoying. You don't have to use harsh chems don't worry :)

There's several options, here's a safe organic combo attack that should kill em off to near zero over a couple weeks. The Neem tree from India is used to make Neem Oil and Neem Meal/Cake, both are totally safe and natural of course and will both kill and drive away future bugs like gnats. Neem Oil is easily purchased quickly at your nearest garden center / maybe hardware store / Lowes / Home Depot. It's about $7 iirc. You mix some with soapy water and drench the top soil well. Also can be safely sprayed all over the plant, even early flowers, but don't bother because those gnats don't actually care about the plant lol.

Best yet, is to buy some Neem Meal (also called Neem Cake) from somewhere like neemresource.com and mixing in a few teaspoons per plant when planting, and sprinkling some around the top of the soil. This has kept all bugs out of my tent :)

Also, for immediate assistance, get some of those yellow sticky papers and hang em and/or place them down by the base of the plants. It'll catch some of the fliers, but the Neem will treat the larvae in the soil still :)

Thanks very much for that Anthropolis, panic averted. I will let them go for another few days, I started the final flush on Saturday (27th).
