Yea the company recomend not to top an auto.they probably have never topped an auto to even see.were as u find seed banks that have pushed the limits and some do recomend topping to give u a bigger better plant.i say try it before u knock it.u will be suprised.happy growing every1 also.topping an auto at the correct time does not stunt an auto in anyway.cnt stress that enough good day all

Ryker the peak time to top an auto is day 14 to 20 of life.no later than day 20. And she needs to be healthy and strong perfect health.ul see that topping dont shock them 1 bit

Everything said so far is true, but there's a small amount of miscommunication between the pro and against teams here I feel........

I'm personally NOT saying topping doesn't work. I am saying that with CERTAIN STRAINS topping is pointless and possibly detrimental. Depending on the plant/genetics, tucking will produce a multi-cola'd plant with a slightly bigger central cola.

I am fairly certain that the breeder I am thinking of in particular, who gives specific notes about which strains respond well to topping and which don't, is being generous with his knowledge rather than misleading us.

Topping works. Not always. Training works. Not always. Plant/genetics and grower cack-handedness affect both.

Literally no point in any of us arguing because there is shed loads of evidence all over AFN proving that not topping AND topping both work.



HOWEVER,

Harry Hill springs to mind again ........... Anyone fancy joining a certain challenge between myself and Sir @Lizardking? Unofficial grow off between techniques

Breeders here on AFN specifically recommend no topping and leaf tucking only on some of their strains.
Fim'ing and Topping of Photo strains was and still is awesome. Especially the hybrid strains with tons of genetic vigor to give and time to give it
I personally fim'd my first auto with great success. It yielded 3 large colas instead of 1. I do wonder if my buds would have been bigger if i would have left it alone and grow at a faster non stunted rate?
I just leave it to the expert breeder who have grown these plants hundreds if not thousands of times to tell me if training is recommended or not!

I just haven't see personally or on any forum where chopping an auto is more beneficial than say, better lighting, or better growing environment.
The best breeders are breeding for the most colas, the least leaves and the biggest yield. Im just a stoner who wants to grow a nice plant and i trust certain breeders that they have my best intrest in mind. If they don't, I move on.
