Mephisto Genetics MCPD_Refugee’s Experiment with DWC and Double Grape

Wet cutting is way easier than dry. U will loose more dry cutting because its way harder to dry trim the leaves are curled and it has to be handled more, why don't u try a live cutting? Way easier to trim em up. Trim hang full plant let her sit 7 days and jar and keep an eye on em. I've tried multiple ways and the live cut is easier if u ask me . and yea that's my next trim job all live cut believe that lol

After 25 years of trimming, I agree. I snip my branches and trim as I go. It's faster, easier, and you loose less trichs. Why double or triple handle your buds?

You know what I love about AFN? Everyone has their own way of doing things and nobody calls you an idiot for trying your own thing. This question would have inspired a lengthy argument on other sites. Not here. So, thank you for your input everyone.

@Nosias, I think you and I have the same overall goal. I’m thinking these gals will be super frosty when they’re done and I want to try to capture as many trichomes as possible. This is why I was hoping to get away from the bag dry method. I may try your method. I’ll have to go back in your journals and read to see what you’ve done. Thanks, brother.

Piling on here... and not sure if this is just like Nosias does. But I trim wet getting most of the larf/leaves off and then I cut branches off the plant and hang those up for roughly 5 days. I have tried drying racks and paper bags and find hanging branches gives me the nicest end result.

Yes, that is all I do. Cut a branch, wet trim it and hang it on the string with the "tie"

Okay. This is just for science.

The lights just came back on in my tent, so I went in to take some PPM measurements. I think ideally I want the reservoir to be between 1300 and 1500 PPMs right now. The starting PPMs for a fresh reservoir are 1350. I checked the reservoir this afternoon and the reservoir needed 2.5 liters to top it off. I measured the PPMs at 1560. I added 2.5 liters of 1/4 strength nutrients to top off the reservoir. The PPMs of the resultant reservoir were 1410. I will run this check for the remainder of the week.

If anyone wants me to post my pH readings, I can do that too.

You're doing great, I know why DWC wouldnt work for me I'd forget half the shit to do :LOLStoned:

This illustrates perfectly why one should monitor their reservoir. So, a special thanks to @slowandeasy for making me double check my PPMs this week. This afternoon, as the lights came on, I checked the PPMs of the bucket. The reading was 1710 PPMs. pH was 6.2. I added 2 liters of plain water and PPMs fell to 1450 and pH fell to 6.0.

I am surprised your pH is not rising fast like mine. I am no longer going to use my Rez and drip stakes due to pH rising to rapidly. Always good to test pH and ppm. I will hand water my plants with MC. Then I know the pH is not rising. @Mizzo81 says they have a new formula coming out next month. Maybe this will address the pH swing? Good luck!!!

I hope sO. I want to set up drip stakes with a res but if Mc does this I’ll have to find something different.

The only thing I can think of is that there is particulate matter from the Mega Crop that falls out of solution as it sits. So, perhaps this is causing a swing in the pH over time. I’m no scientist, though. Just a guess based on observations.
