New Grower massgrass' first plants ever! Cob. Organic. Gbd super soil. Auto Mazar, Sour Crack, and friends.

Day 16. Auto Mazar. Day 8 Sour Cush. Eyes on The White Train.

Not a whole lot to report. Checking in.[emoji271]

1) Latest configuration. Sorry, beans. Prime PAR real estate is spoken for. Ha.
Everyone, this is The White Train. (Under the dome)
2)AM_1 on top, _2 on bottom. _1 is 4"; _2 is 3½"
God, I love those "aerial"' shots. Something about that symmetrical square development really rings my bell.
3) Why are this SC seedling's leaves in "V" formation, while ...
4) sibling SC looks content? Both got watered in a ring, 18 hours ago.

Moisture was a little higher than I wanted tonight. I inadvertently left an open water container in front of the fan, heat on, and it really notched up the Rh. Obvious, but good to know.

Temperature is requiring daily tweaking on radiator thermostat. Doesn't seem to be a sweet spot on the dial . Kinda stressing me out.
Waiting on Day- Night temperature control that I paid for over a month ago.........

Otherwise, the energy is good here in the Conservatory. Life force abounds.

Hello AFN farmers. Some developments in the Conservatory.

Sickness:
Not sure what is going on with these lower leaves. Ive read they yellow and drop eventually, but it seems a bit early to me. And there's the spots...
Anyone got any insight?

DP Auto Mazar
Day 19
Up potted both Mazars yesterday, but symptoms presented a day BEFORE transplant.
Going from straight Number 4 soil into gbd super soil blend.
Graduated soil strength: bottom recommended concentration ; less hot as you go up; Top dress with rec. conc. .
Water only
±300 w cob 46" from soil.
45-55% Rh
±73-83°F.
4"171 cfm exhaust, on 50% power, 2 minutes every hour.

Nute def. sounds like an option to me, as I kept them in unamended soil close to 3 weeks, after which which Oregon's Only Organics suggested they start getting fed.

Also, watering could be an issue cause I'm new, but I'm sticking my fingers right in the dirt twice a day, so I'm trying to keep in touch.

Having said that, I did heavily water the 2 afflicted Mazars a couple of days ago to help the soil and roots stick together for up-potting, but they were ready for water that day too. They looked decent then.

I waited a couple of days for the moisture to equalize, unrolled the Airpot, and everything rolled out in basically one piece, with very minimal root exposure. They actually stood up while I filled in around them. Sweet. Good to know.

Hoping they take well and ease into the Super Soil.

Birth: The White Train Day 1
Germination begun in 2" Filtered tap, dark, bottom of the tent, 18-24 hours. Pulled before tail. Don't want to break anything. :) Just want to slightly hydrate seed case and get seed to temp.
Dropped into 3/4" hole in moistened soil. Orientation left to Jah.
Covered with not-too damp soil, tamped gently, sprayed lightly.
Covered with dome. I have started all 5 seeds this way, and all 5 have come up in 2-3 days.
Thank you Mephisto and Dutch Passion.

Two Sour Cush, Day 10.
Wish they looked healthier. Happy they're alive.

Those SC were started in the big Airpots, and I put Super Soil in the bottom half, unamended Number 4 soil on top.

Same soil build with The White Train.

Yeah the leaves on those affected plants do look a little bit pale, but since you just transplanted I wouldn't worry about them. Those spots could be a Calcium deficiency? They could also just be spots of water that have been splashed on their when you water. Since you're in a new soil I wouldn't try doing any treatments of any kind I just let them get used to that soil and see how they look in a few days.

Nice to be with you all. Hope your 420 was as good as mine ( Mephisto Drop) : ) Anyway....Transplants take well ; turned up cob to 100% :535W; unstable climate ; heat stress..... again.

So the Mazars took well to their new home. AM_1 grew ¾" today, to 9½". AM_2 is 8½"
SC_1 also took on ¾" to 5". SC_2 is at 4¾".
TWT (The White Train) , baby of the family, (for now!) grew ¼" only since last night. 2" tall.
Watching TWT closely, cause she was born under the full 535 watts of cob w/ ± 45-55% rh. All others born under ± 300w w/ ±65-70%rh . Hoping this goes well so I can move a baby in every time I take one down.

Heat and rh all over the place last couple of days. Ordered a different temperature control cause I can't wait anymore ( since March 10) for Hydro Galaxy of Burbank, CA to exchange the defective shit they sold me, and my girls are stressing out by the day. I want to keep it positive here in the Conservatory, or I would expand further.

Some quick shots to share , then I gotta catch a little sleep. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to throw in your .02

Gaining some altitude. Still tightening up environment. More spots.

Hello AFN . Always great to be here chillin' among friends.

Anybody want to speculate what is troubling Mazar_1?

Looks like Ca def.( as suggested earlier) But I thought Ca. probs showed on newer growth, and this is on 2 sets of lower fan leaves, working it's way up. New growth seems unaffected.

Already have G.O. CaMg+, but I noticed the spots as I was finishing up watering a day ago , and plant was saturated. Might not water for a couple more days, and wanted to do something this morning so I did a foliar spray with the mild CaMg+ solution. Primarily undersides of leaves. I did about 10 minutes of inconclusive research beforehand, and will read more tonight.

But thats only on four leaves in the whole tent! Lets not be negative, though. A strong positive vibe washes gently over the Conservatory. :)

And the spots didn't slow her down cause AutoMazar_1, day 29, has grown 3" in 2 days, to 14¼ . AM_2 , also day 29, grew almost 2" in the last 24 HOURS, also to 14¼.
Sour Cush_1 and SC_2 ,day 19, each picked up an inch since yesterday, to 8½, 8¼, respectively.
The White Train , day 11, apparently has business underground, holding out at 3", same as yesterday.

I've got my temps between 73°F and 82, which I like.
My rh has been a little nutty, from 44%-79%, but I can't catch it at 79%. It must happen during Lights Out, when I am Lights Out. 2-6 AM. Ambient rh surrounding tent : 50-55%, steadily.

I feel like this humidity is contributing to the heat stress symptoms, by restricting transpiration, which I hoped to encourage with the warm °s.

Dehumidifier should be here tomorrow. Gonna nail this . I got nothing but time, love, and extreme motivation. Recipe for success. Jah Rastafari!

Watering on a plant by plant basis. Water only. I dig down a good knuckle deep, and try to squeeze the soil together. If it doesn't stick together, I water just barely to runoff, adding runoff back in. ( Ok for organic I think...)

Babies get the "ring" until they don't anymore. Then gradual increases till the above ritual.

In line exhaust 4" running 2 minutes every half hour at about 50% power.

Light is full tilt boogie at 535W. 46" above soil, fixed.

My alarm clock goes off in 4 ½ hours, so I think I'd better sign out.
AFN is clearly more fun than sleep.[emoji12]

Thanks for tuning in.
Do come back.

Oh, yeah,..@NebulaNuggets, this is where I'm raising my trees.
Brand new.
Poke around a little, see whatcha think.
Welcome. :)

Peace Out AFN.

First off, thanks to @jingo for checking in, chiming in, and keeping an eye on my rookie ass. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

AFN , what's good , yo?

Fast growth in the tent. Nice side branching/ flower sites. Bleached and twisted tips on new leaf growth on Mazars.

The last few days have seen some adjustments here in the Conservatory.
Climate control continues to keep me thinking and tweaking dials and numbers.
With the onset of spring weather the ambient temperature surrounding the tent has risen to 65°F. Ambient humidity also up to ± 55/60%.
As the plants require (and transpire) more H²0, the rh in the tent has been up to 80% occasionally.
My tent is developing a little aroma. Prefer to keep it contained.
In the winter the 4" in line exhaust/ filter was sucking the heat from the radiator right out, so I turned the fan way down and put it on an interval timer.
As of today, it's turned up to ± ⅓ power (of 177 cfm) and on 24/7 to knock down the rh and keep the perfume private.

Also set basement room dehumidifier to "always on". Will monitor. Can't expect inside tent to be drier than ambient.

The 400W oil filled radiator seems to be holding it's own now that passive intake is 65°, 10° warmer than before. 3 fans help move air inside the tent, trying to keep temp and rh consistent, corner to corner, top to bottom.

Holding strong in there right now @ 46-55% rh, 73-81°f. Now that I got that stable (for now, lmao).....

I'd sure like to know what these bleached and twisted tips are trying to tell me on AM_1& AM2.
Doesn't look like light burn images I've seen so far...

Having said that, I just did the math, and Mazar_2 is now exactly 24" under my fixed height 9 chip 535W cob, which I've never used before, so maybe thats as close as I'm getting.

As I looked closer, they're just slightly bleached on the tips, but twisted to show the lighter underside.

Mazar

Growth: AM and SC gaining at least 1" a day.
AM_1• 19½" twisty
AM_2• 22"
SC_1• 15½" curly
SC_2• 13¼"
TWT 5" healthy

Leaf tucking is my new favorite thing.
Very relaxing.
So many sites looking for light. Feels good to help.

TWT taking it slow, and looking heathy . She was born under the full 535 W of cob.

Planted 36 hours ago.:
1xMan Bear Alien Pig
1xAuto Livers
These lucky beans are going to get their own journal, but will be sharing the 4x4 with the general population.

If anyone recognises any of my leaf dilemmas on the Mazar or SC, feel free to hit me up with your best guess.

I Started 1 watering ago (± 3 days) with G.O. CaMg+, 1t\ gallon for everyone except seeds.
--------------

Molasses, and Bu's compost tea arriving in mail shortly. Need an bubble set-up.

(Probably for new Mephistos.)

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope we can all learn a little something before this is through.[emoji271]

Looks good bro! Im subbed in for the ride! I'm on my first cob organic grow also!

Looking good MG! Already popped some new mephistos I see :headbang: beat me to it haha

To get that humidity in check, get yourself some more airflow 24/7. I run my 8" exhaust 24 hours a day. Fans run day and night as well. I like to have a bit more exhaust capabilities personally. Run your inline fan hooked up to a thermostat, have it kick on at say 79 F and off at 76 F or whatever you find works best. Day/night thermostats work well for setting separate temps. The goal is to have enough air exchange or the humidity will rise and temps rise and Co2 becomes an issue as well. With the fan kicking on multiple times per hour you will see a reduction in humidity.

The Bu's Tea worked nicely for me this week, foliar and soil drench. I'd add a little more to the tea, maybe some kelp and EWC. Check out TeaLab set ups for tea brewing kits and brew ingredients. If you want to go cheap you can put one together rather cheaply just don't skimp on the pump. 571 gph does the job for a 5 gal brew :pass:
