Indoor Mars Hydro grow journal: WildBill does Hubbabubbasmelloscope in EarthBoxes under MarsHydro SP3000

Originally I thought it was just a end of life thing. In this grow, I realized it was something else: https://www.autoflower.org/threads/purple-roc-b1-sip.80080/
This is my next round where I've been ph'ing my water and so far so good: https://www.autoflower.org/threads/brother-mendels-purple-thai-sip.81837/
This one has gone a bit off the rails as I've had some seed issues but it's getting sorted
I was using EM1 in rez and on occasion spraying the top. This new round I'm just gonna use it for top and will soak any kashi products in order to jumpstart it
Great! Maybe I can get AFN some answers straight from the horses mouth.

8*F is just too damn cold here!

HBSS is forming buds

That's the more stressed HBSS.

Girls will get the compost tea, Recharge and malted barley juice tonight after first lights on. I'll give the HBSS a half gallon thru top watering and fill the water rez 24hrs later after dumping any remaing water in the rez. I can't test the water though. My pen won't hold a cal today! It was getting sketchy, but would hold a cal and worked accurately. I guess I need to have some old school litmus paper as a back-up.

Its -2° F here. Take your snow and multiply it by like 50x and that's about how much snow we got in the u.p. of MI. Lol

That's where I'd rather be now! Warm weather and beautiful big waves coming into Makaha Beach!

I think it was '89 the last time it was this damn cold in this area!

You should check your runoff. I was using EM1 and some bokashi stuff and my ph was getting down in the 4s.

I don't add anything to my res all inputs are done via top dress

Also I have never really felt that checking run off was an accurate way of determining soil ph

I think a proper soil ph meter would be the only way to truly know and they are a little more expensive then I am willing to pay at this point

It is a bit perplexing to me tho..I have seen examples of other growers running their SIPS covered with no issues so I am still searching for the answer some where and I am glad that @MrOldBoy inspired so many of us to use SIPS as it gives us an opportunity to learn and help each other dial in these containers for cannabis use

It is also interesting how earth box recommends the use of dolomite lime for each planting there must be a part of the answer there. although I have always added dolomite I used a type that was not as finely powdered as the bag that comes with the earth box, it was a coarser blend, I also may have used less than the amount earth box recommends maybe the lime I used did not break down quick enough to offset the acidity and/or I did not add enough

I do remember the first thread I saw from @MrOldBoy and his beauty Sams crack plant ...if my stoner memory serves me right he used the mulch cover and did not add dolomite at all...and we alll know what a beast that plant was

One more quick thought...I don't really want to use dolomite anymore..I would like to use oyster shell flour instead if I can. The reason being is dolomite lime is also high in magnesium and too much magnesium in the soil is hard to get rid off and I believe can also lock out calcium?

Thanks so much for the discussion fellow growers and @WildBill I hope we are not derailing your excellent thread too much!

That's where this discussion should be. It sure is on topic! I can't help but think the covers are a contributing factor. My biggest problem is my past experience with conventional composting. It's a SOLID mindset. The Korean composting and EM1 is TOTALLY foreign to me.....no pun intended!

I know I'm not going to have a problem talking about canna with Eric Lancaster of TeraGanix . He's been on YT with several canna guys. Getting info from EarthBox may prove to be more difficult. I'm hoping Eric can shed some light on dolomite,

These are a couple shots of the root growth on a samsquanch og from my most recent SIP grow...I was blown away when I lifted the mulch cover I thought they give a good example of the potential i think SIPs have
