My Rusty was mainly Chihuahua but he had quite a bit of Manchester in him. I guess he would be kind of like a robust Minipin. He definitely Wasn't t that "Chihuahua nut case psychotic aggressive overprotective" Type of dog. He did think he was about 20 times bigger than he actually was!
He minded extremely well! He was a very highly intelligent dog, yet he could do some really stupid shit!
He and I were taking a ride to the lake on my bicycle. I laid a towel down in my front basket and he sat in it! He loved the wind and all the smells! We crested this hill and his ears perked up. He smelled a coyote! And when the little turd spotted the coyote, he leaped from the basket and hit the ground running and barking his ass off!
He was definitely a good thing he minded well!
,,He did have quite the nose! It wasn't a short stubby one like Chihuahuas have.. When all of this went to the deer lease , he naturally came along also. When we pulled off the highway onto the lease, I would tell him to smell us up a deer. So he would get on the lap of whoever was by the passenger door and stick his nose out the truck window. You would know when he found one with his ears perking up and he would snort like clearing his nose. He would tell us what side of the truck the deer was on by getting in that person's lap.
Mom had named one of the deer that we kept seeing. He was a pretty massive buck and she named him Bucky Boy. She would tell Rusty, "Find Bucky Boy!" It was really pretty crazy how many times that dog spotted that buck at night and during the day.
He was such a loyal dog. He wasn't a one person dog by any means , but everyone knew who he loved the most.
After him not seeing me for over two years, He let everyone know that I was approaching about 20 to 30 seconds before I opened my apt door. He had finally settled down after smelly me and trying to find me. All of a sudden he jumped up with his ears all perked and froze for about 10 seconds. And then he started running around like crazy and yelping! As soon as I open the door, he leapt up into my arms and just tried to lick me up. I'm surprised he didn't pee all over me!
With new orders, I got stop in at home for a little visit. I called and told mom about stopping by and she informed me about his condition. His little O ticker was just giving out. I told Mom that I would be through the area. He did get much weaker and that's when Mom told him that I would be here any day.
Well, the little stinker did hang on until I got there. Mom had made him a little bad that she carried from room to room for wherever she was at. Again, before I was even in the house, mom said he started weakly wagging his tail. I stepped over to his bed and patted him and the tail wagging slowly faded. I talked to him as he slowly faded away. He had hung on until I had got there.
Now that's loyalty.
