I've seen them clear a chicken farm of rats in about a week. No porcupines here but I know they're in the Poconos and that's not far from me at all. 1st time I heard one I thought there was a kid lost in the woods. They also seem to be close to the lakes and rivers around here. Had one about 2 years ago walk out the woods and along my fence at night and kept screaming at my dogs, who were going nuts, for about 100 yards before it veered off
They kill porkys, but don't need them. They hit squirrels even harder. They are a weasel, anything they can subdue is food. And if it is less than about three times their weight, they can subdue it.

Their relative the wolverine is even more impressive. I have seen photos of a wolverine that had a small group of mountain sheep trapped by the wolverine on one side, and cliffs on the other three. The sheep could not retreat any further unless they grew wings, and when the photo was taken, it was a standoff. However, the wolverine was seen by the survey crew later feeding on a sheep that it had obviously killed. Bit of a body size disparity there.
