Thanks brother! I hope you feel better real soon. Tis not the season to fall sick. Ohh…the what its are worse than the symptoms LOL
I understand what you mean. But its a 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m (5x5×6.5) tent with only 4 plants. Thats at least 6sf per plant. I don't suppose space will be an issue? As for height, I will top and train. I'm pretty good with that. With a close to 7ft tent, should be easy. I had less than 5ft before this, although i only grew Autos.
I don't mind vegging longer to get good clones. I'm only worried that the 5gal fabric pots, even when filled to the brim, will get rootbound in flower. Cos i really don't wanna transplant lol!
Realistically, in 5 gal fabric pots, how long or how tall (i can count horizontal height even if i train) should I Veg photoperiods hybrids that stretches between 30%-50% according to breeder?
Say I wanna grow the 4 photo plants each in 5 gal pots, from start to finish, in a 5×5 tent, and successfully get at least 3-4 cuttings from each plant to root, when should I best take them cuttings?
If I manage to do the above, I should end up with around 12 rooted clones waiting for transplant after around 2 weeks. 3 clones from each plant in the 5×5. How do you suggest I grow these 12 clones in the 4×8? I can give them all an individual 5 gal pot (don't need to be full. Maybe 3+ gals full?) cos I have the most of this size. Can easily line up 12 in the 4×8. Or use 4 × 20gallon pots to grow 3 clones in each pot. Each 20 gal pot will grow 3 clones from same plant. Will have to train them to branch outwards of pot in this case. But watering will be more convenient.
Really appreciate some advice. AFN helped me produce a good first Auto grow. I'm hoping for a good first photo run as well! Thank you so much!
Thank you pop.My first time with photos in a 5 gallon auto pot led to a 7ft plant in a 6.5 ft tent........ Vegged too long! And that was a 60/40 Indica/sativa hybrid!
Final height depends on the strain. And the more Sativa in them the more they stretch. Pure sativa even more so. I had a Ducksfoot I put into flower when it was 8" tall, it stretched x5 that! finished at 42"!
Thank you pop.
How long/tall would you veg a heavy indica leaning plant, that breeder says will only stretch 30-50% in a 5 gallon fabric pot, start to finish? I can LST or supercrop to manage height. Its the root bound issues that I'm concerned about, if i plant in 5 gal start to finish.
Thank you again for helping out!
That's solid advice! Thanks again pop!I would grow them to 1/2 their predicted final height, as that 50% could turn into 100% ... or veg a little longer and top them before flip. Indicas are funny, some are very slow in veg, other grow quickly. Good to check the breeder's recommendations. I'd say depending on strain, 6 weeks should be plenty. Again, I go by height not time, I learned my lesson lol! If it's strain know to stay 5ft or less, veg a bit longer 6-8 weeks, get as much height as you can before flip as the shorter strains are also those that stretch the least, as little as 25%.
I too had a situation like that!My first time with photos in a 5 gallon auto pot led to a 7ft plant in a 6.5 ft tent........ Vegged too long! And that was a 60/40 Indica/sativa hybrid!

I too had a situation like that!
I was growing outdoor in the yard, plants were in 60 Liter containers.
Then a letter arrives from the landlord, that they were going to paint the house , front and back!
I had to carry 3 plants down one level to the basement from the garden and then up 4 flights of stairs, one stair at a time.
Two plants turned out to be male and the 1 girl grew to 9' but I only had 7' height, so I had to tie it down with ropes and bricks.
I got a huge harvest off of it but I never want to do that again!
These day due to space constraints, I try to grow shorter plants and use techniques to keep them from stretching.
Come september I will be growing photoperiod sativas, let the games begin! What have I let myself in for!!
