Just send him to reddit for help

Yep.

Once you get a few grows in you get a lot more comfortable. Especially if you already have some bud put away and aren't growing it because you need it. Nothing sucks more than being low and bud and then fucking up a plant.

I'll talk him over basic shit. LST, how to PH his water before feeding, that sort of stuff.

I got massive downvotes on reddit yesterday, some dude was starting his first grow and he had this insane feed schedule with A + B nutes plus like 5 or 6 other additional nutrients to be added in various amounts at various weeks. I tried to explain that he really needed to just grow with the A+B nutes and learn from there, not add a ton of variables and then when things go wrong not understand the problems. New growers just love to go all in on tons of stuff like bud enhancer, silicone, sugar, etc etc. Like you wouldn't even know that that silicone is completely fucking your pH up unless you've done a simple grow and seen what ph being off looks like.
I hate reddit. A lot of people on reddit are self proclaimed experts, or are people who havent seen the sun intentionally in years. I dont bother with that site. Props for trying to help though, but reddit has the hive mind mentality, so people only listen to people with popularity regardless of the truth in the post.

NY State Gov. Hochul was in the news today, admitting that the rollout of legal weed here has been a total clusterfuck ("disaster" she said). The poor farmers got the worst of it. Some of them went into hock to convert to growing licensed weed in 2021, and their harvests got stale because there were no licensed dispos yet to sell it to. There's one legal dispo that opened in my city before a bunch of frivolous lawsuits shut down the licensing process. Legal weed is $54 for 1/8 oz, while you can buy a whole oz for $50 on the local Seneca reservations.

You hit the nail on the head right there.

I dislike the upvote/downvote system. Its supposed to be for "This is good" or "this is bad". Not "This is good" and "I disagree with this."

You can disagree without something being wrong or incorrect. But the younger crowd doesn't seem to get that. Just like identity politics. You can't say "I dislike Biden because...." without someone jumping down your throat calling you a trump supporter. Like slow your fucking roll here dude, I can dislike more than one politician at a time, and just because I dislike something about a Liberal doesn't make me a Conservative. But to those folks its extremely black and white.

And once someone downvotes you and your post drops to 0 or less, you might as well delete it, because once one person see's that downvote, they assume there is a reason for it and they downvote you too. No one has to justify why they are downvoting or think you are wrong. There is no room for discourse. And if you try, someone will dig through your post history and then be like "well 3 months ago you said you said you owned guns, so you are obviously a horrible conservative and should go kill yourself."

I coulda told her it was a clusterfuck a long time ago… why wouldn’t you take a tried and true method (Ala Colorado) and use that? Why all the “studies” to see if it’s “right” for NY? If cuomo had done what he said in the term before his last, all that shit woulda been figured out long ago. Why legalize and have no product? Why weren’t they getting dispensaries started? Effin NY… just pull, when you hear the “pop” you will have successfully pulled your head outta your ass! lol!

On the upside, homegrows will be legal in NYS 18 months after the first NYS licensed dispo made their first sale. The first licensed dispo opened in NYC in December 2022. I did the math, and my grow can come out of the closet this June!
