Doing the Ghiradeli brownie mix cookie recipe. Though they taste great and have the desired effect the recipes I've perused seem to be short on the extra flour amount so they just kind of spread out way too much. It called for oil so that's what I used. Next batch I'll go from 1/3 cup of flour to 1/2 cup, let it rest in the fridge awhile and just do a sheet pan bake. Cut and portion after they are done.

I been doing those too... ppl love em.. Same thing easier to do in the pan and cut... smarty pants

I got these seeds from someone who is no longer a member, and am finally getting around to growing them.

1 gallon container, which is quite a change for me.

Overall, about 12" diameter and 16" above soil.

I put his stuff on the back burner after I got ahold of @Sawney_bean beans. Might try my hand at his stuff again for outdoors.

Trying to help a friend of mine's dad who hasn't grown in 20+ years get back into the game now that its legal.

He doesn't understand what autoflowers are.

He says he's ready for a dozen seedlings, but I have no info on his lighting setup. Apparently he's just planning on growing in his basement, no tent or anything. So if he grows photos they are going to herm like crazy. I told my friend that unless he just dropped $500 or more on lights, there is no way he's ready for a dozen seedlings.

He wants 20 seeds in case some don't germinate. I was like whoah, slow down now. Germination rates are really good.

Pretty sure this dude is just used to growing bag seed, lol.

I'm happy to help, but I don't want to give the guy some autos and him not understand how they do.

He also won't talk directly to me, only through my friend, he's still afraid of too many people knowing. Its like bro, I'm talking to your daughter and I know where you live, calm the fuck down, its legal now.

Any suggestions on how to approach this?

It sounds like he just needs to get a grow under his belt to relax a bit. It may be legal, but still is federally illegal and people still think about that. It may be easier than ever to grow in stealth now, but its still nerve racking. Especially in illegal states. He will calm down and become more open about it when he gets more comfortable.
I would let him stumble a bit. Sounds like he THINKS he knows what to expect, so just let him do what he wants, Im sure it'll click pretty quickly. You can only help someone as much as they are willing to accept it, and a couple unfavorable grows, or a grow that exceeds what he think will happen will change his train of thought.

Good luck mate, my experience in that department is not encouraging. Most peeps that think they want to grow weed, especially indoors, have no idea what they are getting into. OTOH, my sister in law managed to get a crop after I set her up, but she never started another grow, not even a easy soil grow which is what I set up for her the first time. I assume that she just found it too much work, but I have not directly asked her because I doubt I would get a useful answer.

I put him together a little goody bag with a couple white label seeds from Lindas that I have no plans on growing, some crosses I've made and then some crosses that have been gifted to me. 15-20 seeds in total.

I met his daughter in college, my roommates friend was dating her sister. Me and her went out a few times but it didn't click. But we kept in touch, and now her and my wife are good friends and she makes really strong edibles.

I'll also print him out some info on how to do LST with pictures, and stuff like that.

Once you get a few grows in you get a lot more comfortable. Especially if you already have some bud put away and aren't growing it because you need it. Nothing sucks more than being low and bud and then fucking up a plant.

I'll talk him over basic shit. LST, how to PH his water before feeding, that sort of stuff.

I got massive downvotes on reddit yesterday, some dude was starting his first grow and he had this insane feed schedule with A + B nutes plus like 5 or 6 other additional nutrients to be added in various amounts at various weeks. I tried to explain that he really needed to just grow with the A+B nutes and learn from there, not add a ton of variables and then when things go wrong not understand the problems. New growers just love to go all in on tons of stuff like bud enhancer, silicone, sugar, etc etc. Like you wouldn't even know that that silicone is completely fucking your pH up unless you've done a simple grow and seen what ph being off looks like.
