I used to actually relocate them. But someone has been dropping captured prairie dogs 1/4 mile from my house and they're slowly migrating in my direction. So having empathy for the people near my dropoff spots, I decided on more permanent actions.

I'm a little worried about the weight this is adding to my karmic score though...

I've caused the demise of six or seven squirrels this year. I think my wife's count is higher. Since spending $2500 to repair damage they did to my truck and much $$ damage to outbuildings and other vehicles, we have a strong rodent policy in place.

My cousin's car was destroyed by squirrels too. They went nuts on the electrical system and the insurance company totaled it!

Tell me about it! I bought an old RV for my son to live in, thinking I could just sell it for what I paid once he moved out. But the mice got in and ate a bunch of wires. I spent 4 days this week trying to get it started, and ended up having to sell it for salvage.

Rats eat wiring harnesses here. The newer wires are soy based insulation that they like. Orange or peppermint oil repells them.

We had a severe problem with skunks a few years ago, all of a sudden they showed up, so we live trapped them and made midnight runs to a village a few mtns over and relocated them there.... LOL spread and share the wealth!

The squirrels used to spend the winter in my attic, tossing around the blown in insulation to make nests, busting holes in boxes looking for crayons to eat, and waking me up early scampering around up there. I trapped a dozen of them, and every time another moved in, until I fixed the siding. In the beginning I used a paw trap and drowned them in a bucket, but I felt bad after one left a toe in the trap. I got a live trap and started relocating them to better neighborhoods with lots of huge trees. Now they can only get in during the summer when I leave the attic door open. One day I found a walnut under my pillow.
