The issue with kidney disease isn’t the obvious one. In fact the case of pizza, believe it or not, the tomatoes are the danger. Yeah, the cheese isn’t great, and there’s usually too much salt, and the pepperoni is processed….but the tomatoes are high in potassium, which can build up to dangerous levels and kill you if your kidneys can’t filter it out. The other stuff causes some pain etc….but potassium can become a serious issue quickly.
Pesto sauce might be the solution. I grow my own basil, grind it with olive oil, roasted garlic, and cashews or sunflower seeds. I freeze it and add pecorino romano cheese later. I guess with my own kidney issues I need to find a lower-salt substitute for the romano.

Check out cotija cheese….it would be a good substitute….and has a fraction of the salt pecorino has. Hell, pecorino is practically more salt than cheese :rofl: :rofl:

White sauce. Ricotta, cream, egg, s&p and herbs. Bangin with a fruit/jam top
