Very pretty, hun!
I used to have some beautiful roses. GrandMa had roses and I worked them with her. I took care of them and planted more when she couldn't anymore.
Dad told me Mom was a bit jealous, so he took me to get her some. And her love of roses began, but she had a brown thumb. The ONLY thing she planted that lived was the volunteer tomatoes that came up from throwing them out the back door!
I made her rose beds at three homes. I could always make her happy bringing her cut roses, whether it was hers or store bought.
Dammit! The memory of giving her her last rose when she was alive, just flooded back. She was at the nursing/rehab home. She was recovering from the infection that brought on pretty much full dementia. She didn't know who I was. That's pretty bad with me being her only child. She thought I was someone else each time I visited.
The day I brought her the rose, I hid it behind my back as I came up to her. She was up and about, but in a wheelchair. I came up to her and she seemed to brighten up, but she thought I was her Uncle this time. I pulled out the rose and said, "Did your Uncle ever bring you something like this?" Oh her eyes twinkled when she saw the rose. "Oh thank you, Son!" She held it up and said, "Look what my Son brought me!"
The POS doctor would not remove the catheter, so the infection just kept coming back. Her poor old body just gave up the fight.
I gave her the last rose the day I buried her.
That was the last rose I cut and will remain so.
