I just read this on instagram posted by autopot: the irony haha

Simply supply pH correct plain water and a flushing agent if you choose to use one, from the reservoir to the modules for the last 10-14 days. DO NOT pour water through the top of the pots. Salt build-up occurs in the top 1"/2.5cm of the substrate, where it has no detrimental effect on plant growth. Pouring water through the top of the pot at the flushing stage (or anytime after you turn the system on) may damage roots due to the toxicity of the salt build-up at the top of the substrate that would get pushed down into the root zone.

Flushing from the bottom pushes the salts in the media further up into the top portion of the substrate away from the roots. You end up with the same results as if you would have flushed from the top.

Tl;dr Feed only pH correct plant water through your reservoir for the last 10-14 days to flush from the bottom. Salts are pushed to the top of substrate away from the roots. Do not flush from the top!

Top watering once a week to 20% runoff to waste can help.
I tried the weekly top water/flush and shopvac out the trays and it helped, but didn't fix anything and problems never went away. Tried for 2 years :shrug:I'm back to DTW now. There will be a set of autopots with a bunch of extras in the classified section if that happens

i'll take em lol i love autopots, i wish i had a 3d printer!!! i seen trays made for solo cups and been dying to get 1 but i'm not willing to buy a 3d printer

Edit: i don't need any of the trashcan res's i just want the valve and trays >.<

so since i flushed from the top when autopot says never to do, did i fuck up? we shall see haha
I think that's referring to the end of life flush that some people like to do, and not an actual flush to remove buildup. You did it fine, it just takes a ton of water to really flush from the top

I have run in to a salt line problem in the past in a flood and drain system. The water on the table only went about 1/4 the way up the pots. As soon as I figured out what was happening I went to top water with drip and never looked back.

I've seen the solo cup ones and they're super cool. Never found one for sale, but the plans are available online. I don't know why the sites with the plans don't offer to make things for you since I don't have a 3d printer either
