first press with the new rosin press! Fastbuds Pineapple Express flowers. Man o man is this some great tasting rosin! I do need to take the little compressor back and get a bigger one with 150 minimum psi. This little one only goes to 100 psi and I'll take the extra 50 psi any day of the week. Not the cleanest rosin I've pressed, but looked good and tasted magnificent!! Got me baked!

How many grams of bud did you get how many grams of rosin from?

Didn't weigh anything yet @JustDave. At this point, I'll be playing with it for a while and dialing the heat and pressure in. There are even air valves in the machine the adjust the plates on how fast they come together(slooooooow press together and real fast to let em apart to pull the parchment.) Weight on rosin is dependent on alot of factors, pressure, temps but most important, strain and trich production. What you put in, you get back. I think @Ronin will agree, that Fastbuds and anything Mephisto will probably get the best return, as their strains are trich coverage kings!:eyebrows: Bold statement, but probably true.

IF I was to sell my stuff, I would be weighing everything and doing some calculations, but I dont sell. I want to be clear, I dont really care about weights or yields(with wet/dry herb or concentrates) with anything canna. When a family member comes over to ask for weed, they simply get a bag with an eyeball on it. I bought this for not only the F*CKIN cool factor, but my hands cant even take ratcheting down a hand clamp on most days! I abused my hands early on in my career and have arthritis pretty bad in both. Some days, its even hard to pick up a tooth brush or write and I'm not that old!! But I still force myself to brush my teeth 3 times daily! I will be looking at a few CBD autos to try pressing too. Do a little mix of medical and recreational!!

I did a couple test runs where I weighed out some 2 gram packs and averaged about a 10% yeild (.20 grams) back for each of five packs (or 1 gram oil from 10 grams flower in that run). Think the next time I weighed was also around 10%. The last couple times I've pressed, though, I didn't weigh but can say that I got NO WHERE near that. Maybe 5% if that. But this was from some very light, airy, not great flower. Quality in has EVERYTHING to do with it. Still working on dialing in temps myself. Going to start playing around in the 325(ish) range with some trim I think. Been sticking around 275 and getting some goopy, melty, hard to get off the paper and work with results lately. But that's also off some flower that really should be let cure a while longer. Soooo hard to wait for the stuff to cure when there's a press around to play with. *evil grin*

That's fair enough. I was just wondering about return percentages. Although if you ain't weighing what goes in and what comes out, how are you gonna know when you've got it dialed into the sweet spot?

Pressing from a hair straightener for over a year and switching to this, already is having over twice the oil output with the press. I have squished DP blackberry kush enough times with a hair straightener, then with this and I will tell you, I get more than twice the amount of rosin out on a bud the same size, from the same batch! Thats enough for me, but if you want real numbers, give me a week or two and I'll scale up a few grams and get you the before and after weights. I can do that! I can even do a side by side with the hair straightener and the press for shits and giggles. I can and will do that, since you asked. The trick with getting the best return is heat dialed in from above and below and simply put, pressure. More pressure and you will get everything out. Even at 100 psi, this press could not get a whole lot out on a second pressing! 50 more psi will certainly guarantee a second pressing isn't needed. But I will still save the chips and make an oil out of em to to be sure!

@Ronin, do you save your spent bud/trim chips for medables or toss them and do you do a second pressing with your hair straightener? I always pressed mine a second time with the straightener and most times got a bit out.

I only do a single pressing and use the chips for making oil/butter.
