yes but does that cut the light in 1/2 if your only running one or the other?

My post was for autonewbt mate lol  yes if your only running half the light, your running at half power too,but the whole light will be lit with only half the leds in use or just the ones for veg..the green led also uses multiple lenses, most LEDs do this to increase penetration.look at all the LEDs in use on the forum, most will use 1-2 lenses and we got members growing beasts mate.the dialed in led spectrum is virtually all usabe light by the plant,so its worth the trade off to increase the penetration, without to much loss of light.

okay off to the led forum I go ...but I'll be back... cause we don't want to run on 1/2 the lights, or 'un-focused' light :list:

Okay Red, sent both cidly and bsled a email with the link to the green light and also asked for a price quote on that one you put the link up of do you think that will be enough for two plants such as think different and mazar? I asked that because that one seems more square as the green one is a rectangular shape just wondering about the footprint my closet is 4x2. Thanks for the help and patience.

thanks red eye can't get through to bsled ...email won't send?..then there's the reflector/ the lens issue.... one say's the lens ones reduce the lumes by 20%, the other one say's the lens increase/focus the light.....hmmmm
but I have been looking at the led grow links .....we'll know next week on my decision

The optical efficiency of most plastics is 80% on a good day, but it does focus the beam increasing the, shall we say, photon density.... resulting in a brighter, more intensely lit area directly below the light.

That's where you're getting that 20% loss, but I think it's an erroneous figure and the net gain in PAR at canopy height is worth it. I'd at least slap on 90 degree secondary lenses no matter what. They can be had for about 50 cents a piece from independant distributers and probably cheaper on Ali-Express, but that's outside the scope of this thread. Sorry mates, just wanted to clear that up.

Sorry mate, when I put that link up it was just for you to look at bysen,i didnt realise id linked a specific light lol my bad.:D you could go with That i guess, but For that foot print you would be better of with 2 x 6 spot LEDs like these http://www.bsled.com/led-grow-light/sp111d-210w.html. For bigger areas with led its better to have multiple small panels over a big one.it helps with different heights & gives you a bigger core growing area. 2 of those will cover your 2x4 space nicely mate.:smokebuds:

Haha np Red, it was still a good link lol cause it was right on the wattage range I was thinking of. I'll see what the two smaller ones go for and try to decide from there do I need to give them the spectrum that you all were working on in the other thread or are those pretty set to grow as is?

No mate,Im pretty sure bysen run there own 5 band spectrum close to what the penetrator uses, but do check with them bro :smokebuds:

so I'm starting to read into the led page ..wondering if these leds can produce as well as my cfls (I did one plant 9oz dry weight and avg 5-6 oz off my smaller plants) specially when I read led comparision posts with 35 gram yields.. not worth spending the money if that's all I'll get ..but I'll keep searching for that 'big' grow off of a 400 watt $350 (includes shipping ) led

Its not the equipment that's not producing, its the grower mate.a good grower will grow well & big with any light source, providing its done right.alot of members don't set out to grow big plants, they want small autos mate.if you got those results with cfl its more than capable with led.cfl & led works well
