Indoor Kyote's 2021 Adventures in Grow Land Indoor & Outdoor

That's the guy I was referring to about the vermiculite. I watched a few of his videos. Maybe it was Utah and not Colorado? Anyways, it was that guy.

I use rain water from rain barrels and ph it after adding nutes. Seems snow would be similar? Maybe a few ppms from particulates in the atmosphere. I use baking soda for ph up with the rain water.

I think there are two different types of lime .. one is fast acting and the other is slow acting. There's so much to learn in our golden years :smoking:
Yeah, he is from Utah. I have watched several of his videos, and learned a few things from them. He is a knowledgeable guy with a lot of serious scientific research behind his opinions.

Dolomite lime is one of the slower acting versions, but it varies a lot in particle size, so the rate of influence varies a lot as well. The mix that Bugbee presents includes finely ground Dolomite which would make it operate at the quick end of the spectrum for this amendment. Dolomite lime includes both calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, so it adds both calcium and magnesium to the nutrient content of soil. I imagine that different sources of dolomite likely vary in the proportion of calcium and magnesium present, but I haven't dug up any data on the issue.

There are several other forms of lime, not particularly important to us. Wikipedia has a nice article on the topic here:

If you are using rain water, you are in a similar boat to me. The near total lack of calcium in our water can cause mischief by buggering nute ratios and contributing to shortage or lockout. This stuff keeps the grey cells busy... Damn good thing for us elders.

Of course, I would have to post this before reading @Waira's post on the topic...

Indoor winter 2021 Seedstockers Candy Dawg & Blackberry Gum day 28 n 21
End of week 3 on the Dawgs and end of week four on the Blackberry Gum duo.

Guess I'm growing micros this winter.

Fed @ 560ppm and dosed with Miicrobial Mass as well. 6.0ph rain water

LIghts are now at 33k on the meter for my reference.

Keeping the VPD at 1 to 1.1

Topped the Candy Dawg. Figured why not, see what happens. She pouted for a day after that.

So plugging along here. I did start another seed in some potting soil I had that was frozen solid. Chipped it off, and brought it inside to defrost, then watered it with Miicrobial Mass after adding perlite and some worm castings. Mainly did this to see how it works as a grow medium as I may use it outdoors this year with a few more amendments.

Ok growfolks, that's about it. Oh, got me appointment to get medical approval started so I can run 10 outdoors this year :joy:
So no complaints here... who gonna listen anywayz

Good luck on your medical approval, hope it is an easy process. I went through mine some time ago and have helped a friend with his. If you have any questions let me know but it is fairly straight forward for the most part.

Indoor winter 2021 Seedstockers Candy Dawg & Blackberry Gum - BG update
The Blackberry Gum are looking a bit on the pale side to me, so I fed again and adjusted the lights to 26k on the meter. See how they go this week.

This one is showing fading more than the other

Quite the difference in leaf structure as well. Not as much fading on this one

Indoor winter 2021 Seedstockers Candy Dawg & Blackberry Gum & stray NL x BB added
As those of you who have watched this thread, you know I've had soil problems. :wall:

So I had some locally made organic soil and thought I'd give it a test. It's been cold here, so the bag was frozen. I broke off enough of what was needed, and brought it inside to thaw. :snow2:

This is in a small one gallon plastic pot that I had laying around.

I added a bit of perlite and a bit of worm castings. Then I watered the pot with miicrobial mass.

So day one for NL x BB. :dancer:Hears to hope!

Indoor winter 2021 Seedstockers Candy Dawg & Blackberry Gum fed, watered, new pot racks
Just a quick midweek update. :toke:

Water and fed 6.1ph and 560ppm. :greencheck:

Got some baker's stainless steel drying racks to put under the pots instead of upside down saucers.

The new growth on the CD's showing better green in the leaves, while the effected leaves continue to fade. :eek1:

Did a bit of leaf tucking on the Candy Dawg. :weed:

The NL x BB is still under the dome for a bit longer.

Oh, and me EC motor echaust fan just quit on me. I have a cheap exhaust fan for backup so that will do until the new Infinity gets here around the end of the month.

That's all for now growfolks. Keep the love :d5:

Indoor winter 2021 Seedstockers Candy Dawg & Blackberry Gum feed update
Fed the two Blackberry Gum again tonight @550ppm.

I mixed up a jug of MC to 1500ppm.

Now, I pour a bit of that in a quart measuring cup, put in my ppm meter, and pour in rain water until the ppm is where I want it to be. A touch of baking soda and 6.0ph.

Want to keep that new growth a nice green
