Indoor Kyote's 2021 Adventures in Grow Land Indoor & Outdoor

Cool trick with the pipe cleaners. It’s kinda like those hard plastic elbows that help train plants to 90 degree angles but not super cropping.
looks like they are still flexible and taking it well

These branches are really supple and healthy so said to meself "self, letz try this" . First ones I made wouldn't stay on very long, as I wasn't twisting them closed. Branches would spring right out in a short while.

These seem to be holding alright so far.

Getting ready for spring 2021 greenhouse preparation
Getting a bit antsy so played in the greenhouse today. It's a small one, 9 x 12. Last year I monitored the temps in it and didn't attempt use it for growing. I had temps spike to 120F in there, so setting up decent air exchange and circulation is a priority. I still have to run some wiring out there for a 16 inch oscillating fan.

This potting soil is new to me. It has a lot of goodness already in it. The plan is having 15 gallons of soil per photo plant, with a mixture of 10 gallons potting soil, 1 gallon of EWC, .5 gallon of chicken manure, .5 gallon horse manure, and 3 gallons of perlite. Oh, and I will also add a few cups of diaromatics earth as well to the mix.

If you have any suggestions on the mix, I'm all ears. :toke:

And I have a feeling not too many folks would get excited over bags of manure and soil, butz I know how some of ya are :smoking:

Spring is coming! :cooldance:

In my greenhouse, about the same size as yours, I put in a solar powered exhaust fan in addition to a 16" oscillating fan. Seems to do the trick

I don't use animal manures unless they are WELL composted............especially THAT chicky doody.
Any chicken poop that's composted that you can buy is ok to put on your lawn and flower bed. Growing veggies and canna, I will only use KNOWN poop, like your own or friends and family that don't use drugs, hormones antibiotics. Even then, it will be a hot aerobic compost. A hot(heat) compost pile tends to kill the bad microbes that can be in chicken doody. Overall high biological activity tends to keep the bad pathogens in check.

Horse poop is great stuff, but composting will take care of seeds that can be present. Race horse and cutting horse poop can be quite good from the quality feed they tend to get. It adds great structure to the soil.

We live in an agricultural community (small farms). It's all cooked and turned well as it has no manure smell. I have a friend who used it last year in his veggie garden and had no problem with seeds. The soil mix is made about 30 miles from here, so all locally sourced.

I'm thinking this for right now.

Per ten gallons of soil mix adding
3 gallons of perlite
1 gallon EWC
1/2 gallon mixed manure
1/4 cup DE
1/4 cup alfalfa meal

The soil mix contains horticultural grade peat moss, coconut coir, premium aged organic compost, organic soil, Natural Zeolite, Organic Kelp, Slow release fertilizer and perlite.

This is being mixed for photoperiods. What ya think? Ya, na? Hell no?

Local is good!

What's the "Slow release fertilizer"? I don't really like to see that really generic term. It could mean any damn thing and most are not good.
