New Grower It's about time..Dutch Passion and ChilLED grow light

Some things that make journal threads more informative when you research them are:
1. Number of days since first true leaf (Day 1).
2. Number of days since flip to 12/12 on photoperiod plants.
3. Strain and seed/clone source.
4. Type of grow soil, hydro etc...
5. Nutrient brand/s and regimens.
6. Environment, lights, fans, tent, temperatures/humidity, your grower level is an important part of the environment.
7. Pictures, pictures and more pictures. Try to give them optical scale with a lighter or soda can or tape measure.
8. Harvest and smoke report
9. Last but not least is a final summary of the grow in your own words. how easy or hard, special notes, would you grow it again, lessons learned.

So it begins....

It has taken me over 30 years to have a magic garden once again. So it is something I have thought about and really hoped that once when we retired I could start it up again. My lovely bride of 46 years said lets move to Colorado so we can be close to the grand daughter. And also she said so you can grow, "I know you would like to do it again."

Well I may be a bit on the slower side these days but I was never stupid. So here I am.

I was very lucky to have found this group of loving and caring growers. I like many here have been more than over whelmed by all of the choices I needed to make. I have spent many months reading and learning from all of you and so I believe I am now ready.

Way back when I had my first two, and only two grows, I was able to get some beans from the man himself Neville and from the his seed bank in Holland. Those were Northern Lights and they grew tall and well. So I will have some Northern Lights in my tent this time also.

Here is the accumulation of those many choices.
1. The tent is a 5 x 5 x 7 from La Garden. It was easy to set up and is holding up all of my gear. It will be vented to outside the utility room, 18' x 8'. I will use a 6" fan and filter. I have a controller for the fan. I have run the light for 5 days now. Trying to get a feel for all of the new gear.

2. The light is a ChilLED 400 watt commercial. That means they put it together for me. I am not a DYI guy. It was hand built by GrowMau5 and created by Vitaly. I am more than excited to use this light. in the pic below I am using the light to help dry out my CoCo. I will run 20/4. I believe that every thing needs to sleep. No DEEP truth data, just my belief.

Weight 40 lbs
Dimensions 31 x 28.5 x 10 in

3. The system will be AutoPots. I will be using 4ea 3.9 gallon and 2ea 2.2 gallon. I want to try the same strain in each pot size. I am using Roots Organics 5KG compressed Coco. It was not too bad to uncompress, but I am still drying it out.
4. I will, to the best I can, follow the success of @Hansbricks. I will try like hell not to deviate. So I will use AN as described in his last grow. I will not supplement with any CO2.
5. The strain will be 2 auto Blackberry Kush and 2 auto Colorado Cookies from Dutch Passion. I will also run 2 auto Northern lights from Royal Queen. These Northern Lights will be for Neville.

I have a chair pulled up. Im interested in how the light performs..

You can text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross for relief on the gulf coast or find lots of other ways to help. It's a small thing but I have sent $10 and I am now sending good vibes from Mass to Texas while I settle in for bed. Please forgive me if I'm taking Scotch not Irish for my nightcap.

:zen:

Thank you @SPZ they need all of the help they can get. I appreciate you going to Mass and saying some prayers for them. Scott or Irish it is all the same as far as I can remember............

Scottie - ChilLED 400w commercial build.

I am a bit behind in my updates so here is the caught-up:

8-29-2017
My best Lady, who has asked to be called SKY, was getting very dry. Sky also continued to show nute burns. So I gave her 1.2ML/L of voodoo juice and .6 ML/L of the Cal/Mag. No nutes. I watered with .56 liter of water. My thoughts are that I did not need the nutes. The other two ladies, the other CC I will call Burnie and the Ultimate I will call Toad, are doing fine. Though they are very squat and are low riders in the coco. I can see they continue to grow. The branching is branching but the nodes are only centimeters apart.

8-30-2017
Sky lost a new grow fan leaf !?! I am at a loss...... But I will say it must have been a tiny alien walking in the garden who broke it off. What else can it be? I DID NOT BREAK IT, that I know for sure. Sky is also showing more nute burn. Nothing life threatening but enough for me to stay off the nutes for a while for her.
Temps are staying between 84 and 72 degree F. The RH is at 64%. I have not had the exhaust fan on very much, just the floor fan. I have added a wet soaking rag to the floor of the tent. This is keeping the rh at the 61% -50%. Yes a wet CLEAN rag. It works great.

8-31-2017
The nute burn continues on Shy. I put .6 ML/L of the Cal/Mag in 1/4 of water and gave that to Sky. Want to be sure it is nute burn and not Cal/Mag deficiencies. Sky is still growing.

That brings you up to date.
Now for some pics:

This is a group shot. I raised Scottie to 24" I want to encourage some stretch. I believe Sky maybe be ready to go on the air dome and reserve soon.
In both pics Sky is on the front left (Dutch Passion Colorado Cookies);
Burnie is front right (Dutch Passion Colorado Cookies);
Toad is in the back (Dutch Passion Ultimate)

This is Toad. Very much a coco hugger. I am seeing vertical growth now so since I raised Scottie to 24"

This is Burnie. She too is growing vertical.

This is Sky she is 5.5 " tall

On 9-1-2017 I watered all three ladies. Sky was again very dry. I gave Sky 1 liter of water with 2ML/L of Voodoo juice, 1ML/L of Cal/Mag and .5 ML/L of nutes, A and B. I used the full liter. I have thought that the burn was being caused due to the size of the pot. Sky is in a 2.2 gal pot. The others are in the 3.9. Hell Why not add more complexity to a new grow with EVERYTHING being new to me. So I was using only little more than half of a liter of water when I did add the nutes. I believe this was causing a build up of nutes at the bottom. Now this is not an issue with the 3.9 as the roots are not so quickly at the bottom of the pot. Since with the 2.2 pot the roots had a shorter ways to go to hit bottom and I was only using little more than half of a liter it was too dry and the nutes were accumulating at the bottom, thus the burn.
Well that's my thoughts. So I will use a full liter with half the nutes. We will see. I did use this strength with the watering I did on 9-1-2017.

The other plants got the full monty; 2ML/L voodoo juice, 1 ML/L Cal/Mag and 1/2ML/L of nutes, A and B.

The ladies have stopped their vertical growth. They have not grown since I water them on 9-1-2017, something is still Wrong.

I did a little analysis of the nutes the water, Voodoo Juice and the Cal Mag I have.
Here is what I have found:
1) My tap water is 8.1 PH with ZERO PPM. (I use White Distilled vinegar to lower the PH to 5.8. The PPM is not changed)
1a) After 24 hours the tap water in a bucket dropped to 7.3 PH with Zero PPM. (I use White Distilled vinegar to lower the PH to 5.8. The PPM is not changed)
2) The Voodoo Juice at 2ML/L in a liter of my tap water made no changes to either the PH or the PPM. So this is neutral addition.
3) When I added the Cal/Mag ( Grotech CAL-MAX 2-0-0) @1ML/L in a liter the PH remains the same @5.8. The PPM rises to 250.
4) When I added the Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect Sensi Grow Part A @1ML/L in a liter the PH remains the same @5.8. The PPM rose to 550.
5) When I added the Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect Sensi Grow Part B @1ML/L in a liter the PH remains the same @5.8. The PPM rose to 730.

IMO 730 is too high of a PPM. As now Toad is showing Nute burns also.

So I did a flush on all three Ladies.

SKY) I used 3 Liter of water on Sky. PH of water was 5.8 She is in the 2.2 gal AutoPot. I tested the run off. I know this may not be BEST was to test, but it is what I could do. The run off as 5.8 PH and 850 PPM.
Toad) I used 5 Liter of water on Toad. PH of water was 5.8 She is in the 3.9 gal AutoPot. I tested the run off. The run off as 6.0 PH and 760 PPM.
Burnie) I used 5 Liter of water on Burnie. PH of water was 5.8 She is in the 3.9 gal AutoPot. I tested the run off. The run off as 5.8 PH and 890 PPM.

I will see what happens now. I hope to see the growth return. I am learning a lot and will remain positive regardless of this outcome.

FULL tent FULL tent

It sounds like you are doing everything you can for them! Good call flushing them, I'm excited to see if that helps. They are still looking great for their age and they have a lot of time to grow so just hang in there!
