Indoor In the Rasters of My 4 by 4

Purple Canyon Industrial pheno, first run, day 71 and I called it. It still doesn't have a lot of amber, maybe 1% but it's looking tired and I am revegging her so don't want it to go too far. Smoke test was over a week ago and she passed with flying colors. Since then she's put on a lot of weight. I have to keep propping up her branches because they keep falling over.

This is what I got:

And this is what I left for the next run:

I kept chasing that damn chicken away and it just kept coming back! :help: So I went with her head shot.

Today's spotlight is on my Doug's Varin. As you might recall, I made seeds from her and revegged. She's got a lot of colas as a result, which may be why she never stretched. She's still gaining height, slowly, and that hasn't stopped. But it's not what I would call stretching.

So she's probably not going to yield a lot. Next time I grow Doug's Varin, it'll be in a 7 gallon pot.

At about six weeks in, she is bushy as she can be. She's sporting a generic citrus scent that's nice, but not anything to write home about. My wife asked me for something that wouldn't give her the munchies. So I'm going to grow out at least a couple of these. As an aside, I recently harvested some well-seeded Sinai landrace, and that smoke didn't give her the munchies either.

I've been watching this 41 Bucks and it looks ready on the outside. It's got a lot of ambers and cloudy, but there are still some clear trichomes as well. I've read about some strains never getting rid of all the clear and I have to assume that's what's going on here, since she's been in flower for 10 weeks.

So I chopped her and hung her up. I'm expecting about 3.5 ounces but buds are really dense so it could be 4, potentially.

I put a feminized AFKUM x Purple Canyon Industrial on to flower this morning, so the tent doesn't have TOO much empty space.

I'm also running 16 seedlings from the seed test after completing my Sinai seed run. All the females will be potted up to 5 gallons probably. I'm going to let them veg outside until the end of the month, then bring them inside until they're fully vegged.

I'm a busy bee today. I up-potted several plants, planted several Sinai seedlings that sprouted and decided to put these three on 12s.

The two on the left are Black Banana Chem. I have been dying to run these but haven't had the room until now. The one on the right is a Strawberry Headband courtesy of @Arkvader13. I tried a headband vape a couple of years ago and it was really good. I've been wanting to grow it ever since so I can smoke more.

I don't have the resources right now for a proper living soil grow, so these ladies got this:

It's just some cheap 10-10-10 I bought from Walmart several years ago for $8 and have been using it on tomatoes. I tested it on some of my plants outside and it's doing really well so it's my solution for now until my funds sitch improves.

Anyway, the moral of my story is that there's no wasted space in my 4x4.

I'm doing a seed run with Mango Smile and Super Orange Haze. I sprayed just the main cola of the Mango Smile (left). So I'll be crossing the two and making feminized seeds, but I'll also be selfing the Mango Smile.

I'm using Twenty20's spray because it's never failed me yet. It is too expensive though, and I think next time I'll source from a vendor willing to sell it at a little cheaper.

Happy Friday everyone! :friday:

Today's spotlight is on this Gelato Meat (Force Of Nature Gelato 41 x Dino Meat) four months old and three weeks into flower.

Even her fans are starting to frost up!

I'm really excited about this girl. Today I rubbed a couple of buds and took a sniff. Then another. Then another! I haven't grown a plant with such a cloying, addictive smell since the first 50 Shades of Grape that I ever grew. (Subsequent 50SOG phenos never came close to that first one).

The smell is sweet and very fruity, with a hint of orange. It reminds me of fresh, homemade fruit cocktail stirred up with sugar added. I don't have a clone, but there's one cola that's a little shorter than the others, so I'm going to take a clipping because I think she's a keeper.

Remember those prize phenos that you just can't stop smelling? Like that. I feel that these fruits are represented: 🥝🍐🍋🍑🍇🍊🍍

I grew another one and I think it hasn't been jarred yet. That one smells wonderful too, like orange sherbet. The other one had big, sturdy branches and incredibly dense, hard buds. Extremely potent and medicinal. Didn't stretch more than 20%. But I didn't take a clone...

This one looks like its branches will need trellissing. I hope bud structure and yield are similar, though.

Shout-out to Force Of Nature Genetics - both strains I've grown from them have been potent and easy to grow. They're really generous with seeds, too. As I recall, he gave me a second pack of seeds as freebies.

I have more seeds right now than I could grow in ten years, but I'm going to make another order soon anyway. I'd like to see what else FNG has, since I only have a few of his crosses and that's never enough.

This Mango Smile, unlike the last one, IS gettin'with it! :woody: I started spraying her a couple of days ago with Twenty20's formula. Just the top two tiers will be male. That'll give me a nice stack of S1s for future grows.

She's sweet on this Super Orange Haze and I've given them my blessing. So I'll also have my own Mephisto crosses - my own personal illuminato! I plan to never again buy the same strain twice.

This is my last Mango Smile, so I feel like I lucked out. Because weather hasn't been conducive to happy plants, and these autos are just doin' they thing.

I misjudged seed harvest time on my Sinai, so did three passes through the seeds to pinch out the bad ones. My forefinger and thumb were bruised for two days as a result.

I'm therefore happy to see 80% germination with this last batch.

Now I have 16 seedlings, and will be killing any males and pheno-hunting females. I'll be breeding the best females by reversing one and creating an all-female IBL. At least that's the plan. I have plenty of seeds, so I can convert it to a regular line whenever I want to.

Given the quality of the leftovers I smoked after removing seeds, I'm pretty optimistic I'll find my females in this first set.

This Purple Canyon Detroit pheno didn't stretch as much as her sister, and looks like she's starting to finish (she's six weeks in). She's been stalled for the last couple of weeks - my fault, or she's just bulking up. She's got a strong fuel odor, without the complexity her sister had. Already lots of cloudy trichomes with a fair bit of clears left and no ambers.

My clones of her sister, Industrial, all died in the cloner. Mold. But I finally have my new clone station dialed in and other clones are starting to sprout (planted three in pots yesterday). Also I have some crosses with an Afgaan/Kumaoni x PC-Industrial that I'm growing out so maybe all is not lost.

Naturally I'm unhappy with losing the clone, but really, what are the odds that the first plant harvested was the best? Anyhoo, I sent GPS a text asking them about future seeds availability, and I'm glad to find out that they are going to have more Purple Canyon seeds available in September :woody::jump: and I'll be stocking up at that time. Muchly.

Here's the whole tent:

At the back middle-right is the Detroit's offspring (x Whamband) and I have two clones of her. She's starting hard stretch as of today. I'll feature her in an update in a few days. Who knows what'll come of it, but it has Headband genetics so I'm optimistic.

Oh yeah - and the three plants tagged with red yarn (previous post) were pollinated with a mix of elite pollen generously gifted to me by @Arkvader13. Some of the pollen was 13 months old and still viable. It's going to be a long time before I can grow those seeds out, but I'm sure I'll find some good stuff when I do.

This is my first grow-out of Whamband (Hazeman White Aloha x Headband/Mikado) x Purple Canyon Detroit. I flipped her 12 days ago and she's really taking off! I really dig that hybrid vigor...
