Indoor In the Rasters of My 4 by 4

Oh yeah, the amber. 1-2%.

It occurred to me that I don't know how to estimate percentage, but Strawberry Cough provided the mental leap I needed. It's not really much of a leap, but here's how I did it:

My microscope that takes the cool pictures quit working like the last one: the damn on-off switch. So using my handheld, I:

1. Estimated the number of trichomes in the current field.
2. Counted or estimated the number of amber trichomes in the current field.
3. Divided trichomes/amber.

I know, an idiot could have figured that out. That's what I'm telling you just happened! :doc3:

Now I know that it's definitely worthwhile so I'm gonna try taking a few more cuttings from her and then flip to flower and basically repeat the process aka I'm taking one from your playbook:worship: I think it's a pretty decent yield to so don't beat yourself up about it cause it's a great looking harvest and in my book that's a win!... plus you have the cuttings so you can have her around for as long as you want & I bet it's gonna be even better after you let it cure for a while!

Yeah it would but it's pretty good so I doubt it lasts through cure. :baked:

This strawberry headband was badly pummelled by marble-sized hail and has recovered!

My 4x4 barely has space for it, but I'm waiting for a few weeks before I flip. I'm trying to start with a too-tall plant when I flip because there's something I want to try.

I took cuttings today, though...

I'm going to spotlight my Sinai seed run. A couple of days ago I chopped the topmost bud on each mom and put them out to dry. I decided today to put the two moms outdoors to finish, but ripe seeds are already exposed so I might just chop them tomorrow and be done with it. Here's how they looked five minutes ago.

Here are the tops I chopped a couple of days ago.

And look at all the extra space in the tent! I don't have anything ready to put in yet, but I think maybe next weekend I can put a strawberry headband (from @Arkvader13) to fill in some of it. The next one won't be ready for a few weeks so chopping the purple canyon (Industrial) will free up even more space.

I spent the last 45 minutes picking out the hundred or so good seeds. I don't think they're completely dry, so had to be really careful with the crush test. I may see as low as 80% germination rate but I didn't want to exclude anything that might sprout because of the smaller yield than I hoped for.

Then I rolled up a large doobie and went outside to smoke it. I haven't smoked in 16 hours and I smoked the whole thing, except for a usable roach. Twice what I normally would.

I didn't expect much, but it's not bad. Very opiate-like, relaxing and carefree vibe. Very medicinal. With a "happy" component, if that makes sense. That's from the average of two females unlikely to be the best in a larger herd, and from a very seeded bud.

I would say it feels like something in the 13-16% range of THC, much more than I expected. Though in actuality, THC is probably around 10% and there are a bunch of so-called "rare" cannabinoids making up the difference. Which is what I'm looking for

I think it's likely that at least five percent of the females would be solid keepers. (Not that I'm even remotely qualified to make that determination) And I think it's going to be fairly easy to find something really special. I wish I had started this when I got the seeds. I'd probably be rerunning a favorite Sinai clone right now.

The Gelato Meat (Force Of Nature Gelato 41 x Dino Meat) gets the spotlight today. She's on day 65 and all cloudy with occasional amber. I've only ever grown one strain with buds this tight and hard, and nothing with tight, hard buds this big.

She was flipped at about five weeks - way too early. Yet she did a great job fattening up, without much stretch. I don't have a clone but will flip her back to veg for another run. I'll let her get much taller next time before I flip.

Her orange smell has deepened. For those of you who have ever tried candied orange peel, that's her smell. My mom never let anything go to waste, so I ate a lot of them as a kid.

I'm looking at the end of July for harvest. She's really starting to fatten up though, so hopefully sooner.

I hate having empty space in the tent. But I'm trying to institute a rule of thumb - if it's too short it doesn't get flipped. I was hoping for some height on this Gelato Meat (FNG Gelato 41 x Dino Meat) but it's just not cooperating as quickly as I'd like.

I had the branches pulled out almost flat, so released the restraints and tried to encourage it a bit. But it's still too short. So I spent a few minutes giving it some new training, and...

... she's tall enough now. :cooldance: So today is day one .
