Idea: Application for Testing Seeds

Well I would turn this around and ask what does the seed provider want? Showcasing just the brand , germination rates etc do they prefer a grow log in there section etc pictures posted with logo etc

Now as growers we can look at what they want and make an application for the seeds explaining how we might meet the requirments they are looking for
I am too chaotic to do a lot of individual threads but my normal threads all ways get traffic ,,,more so than any individual thread I might do and I dislike all this talk of standardisation I ain't a robot

I like fee seeds :pass:
.

Oh yeah I have more room so would love to give this a go. It would be best if there were a standard form of all of the information the breeder needs to collect from the testers.

This...I believe regardless of skill level/experience, fine detailed documentation in journals is what is needed for a proper assessment of various strains. I think that testers should be folks that prove they detail their journals well, including every detail like feedings, errors they make ect

I don't believe testers should be only the top growers. Guys with less than ideal climates or setups can provide valuable information as well!

The reporting format should be standardized so each journal would contain the expected information.

Yep. I like to see equipment and feed details at a minimum. Journaling used to mean that we would write down every change in a notebook in the grow room so we can track problems and unexpected high yields and see what was done. To me journaling by nature should be a detailed recording of variables first, and now a days a photo record of the grow and results. Otherwise what is the point. A journal format to follow for free seeds would go a long way. The vendors ought to be able to put together a list of parameters to track without too much effort.

so to get seeds I would expect people to agree to the journal terms, and have one successful grow journal already. If they have one already, they are probly safe to send seed too. I can see more opportunity for idiots and assholes the larger that seed shipping list gets.

Free beans:growing:sign me up.:pass:i always keep good records on paper so this should be a cinch.

Not really sure what more i could add that hasn't already been said... I for one would be thrilled to give untested or unreleased seeds a go. I've always been one to go out on a limb and buy seeds from small or "indie" breeders. Been disappointed and had to kill my fair share of plants, but I've also been pleasantly surprised too. I think this needs to be like the want/ad section of the newspaper.
Each party list what their interests are and matches will happen. Of course some requirements should be met before just passing off a package of seeds to someone that just joined 15 mins prior, only to never be heard from again.
It is sad but I think the chance to get something for free brings out the worst in some folks:shrug:

Very cool ideas, easy to get carried away. I do a bit of test growing and know a few guys breeding. I dont think breeders is interested in prerelease strains being test grown in public and for sure not by inexperienced growers. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
On the other hand, I don't understand why breeders are not handing out free seeds to anyone interested, especially autos that can't be cloned . All it cost is the shipping and a few seeds out of many thousands. Seeds are sold by the pound and not in little numbers If they had to pay for quality grow marketing hahah. But its their business, their loss. And they come on here pay the money, then don't follow up, haha, but hey, breeders are stoners too right!
Don't think for a second you should be grateful for free seeds , the breeders should be kissing you for the grow efforts,
Mephisto is a good exception, those guys know how to go about it .
Personally I don't grow any testers unless I'm given minimum 10 seeds , any discussion and that breeder is instantly dumped on the naughty step. evaluating 1 or 2 plants from seeds is just lottery I think, and i want to be able to do a second run if I want to. Don't forget,, a tester may not make it to production so if I fall in love maybe tough love haha

Perhaps the vendor threads could be initiated as part of the seed/product mail out process with a standard form for the first page that the recipient filles out to start the thread. The thread Title initiated by the staff could be in a very specific field input format that could be read by the database for sorting. after that it would be a normal journal thread. It could be just a cut and paste page so quick and easy.

Hey everyone we're actually brainstorming the idea of opening up our seed testing to the entire community by implementing an application system for testing (so there would be some criteria and required information filled out,) to which then we'd relay back to the appropriate vendors that are offering seeds for test purposes.

We want to encourage more autoflower growers to try out a variety of strains and are actively working on a revamp of our review system to make the information easier to input, more relevant, and ultimately worth your time to read!

We can't promise or guarantee any spots for testing, but it's a step in the right direction if you're interested in possibly testing out seeds for the breeders on the site (and a way to possibly progress forward into better testing gear with the CannaZone test team!)

Appreciate any feedback on this! This is not the official application thread, just looking for ideas!

If there is anything you would like to see on the application, as potential new testers or existing testers, please let me know!

I'm in?

:smoking:

:peace:

Me.

Edit: I'm not too late?
