Idea: Application for Testing Seeds

Don't stress it guys!

Sharing is caring for sure but no one is under obligation to share secrets if they have some lol!

Testing free seeds however should have a loose format where prudent info is shared as that in turn assists the breeder to produce a better product!

I'm getting a bit confused with all the formats we have for comps/battles/cannazonian testing/sponsored seeds and vendor comps

I'm a little jaded so probably just go play with my portal strains and maybe some vendor strains

BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND...

It sounds like a number of us want diversity of skill levels, and there are already some good ideas for controls to prevent a useless giveaway. So far many resounded the main idea here, too, SO WE ARE OFF TO A GOOD START

This will give me incentive to do a proper journal rather than patchwork in LS.

I would like to suggest that listing the space available, lights, setup, style, etc. on the application be mandatory. This will be important info anyways, and knowing in advance can help the moderators and vendors choose appropriate seeds.

I am not really much of a joiner. I lurked this forum for a long time before stepping in. I proudly wear the lurker badge. I jumped in because of the mostly sincere people willing to share the knowledge of growing cannabis. I really enjoy the whole thing now jokes and all. I am hooked on the competitions my grow space is just way too small to do all of them simultaneously:rofl:.

@Son of Hobbes I think this is a good idea but needs to have a more formal structure. I really have to search hard to find the rules/instructions for each contest; they should be more concise and in one location "The Master Rules List". The reporting format should be standardized so each journal would contain the expected information. I think the vendors deserve that from us. I know that what you do already is a huge job and I truly appreciate what you all do.

Time frames need to be opened more to allow for grows in progress.

I agree that new growers should have some number of completed journals successful or not just to show the needed work ethic worthy of a vendors product. I find it hugely disappointing to read a thread that does not have an ending result here or elsewhere!

I also know that it is hard to admit to making a mistake that kills or maimes our plants but if we all fess up publicly it helps new growers become better farmers and allows them to admit mistakes without fear of shame. Lord knows I have killed a few.

:yeahthat:

And a mandatory vape/smoke report (cure time?) after harvest.

At some point I'd like to see a photo/auto grow off, where a breeder offers both types of one strain e.g. White Widow. Not to compare quantity but quality and reliability / how trouble-free it is to grow. Maybe more experienced growers like the occasionally picky or awkward plant, but I like my grows to be as straightforward as possible, while I'm still at the early stages of learning!

And a slight variation of that would be to have two breeders own WW (again as an example) in auto form and see how they do against one another under the same conditions. Which has better structure, produces more trichs, gets you more stoned... that sort of thing.

this kind of thinking is not helpfull i understand you learn by the mistakes you make and all that but your telling me that if you see someone doing somthing wrong or inncorrect that could seriosly affect there grow you would just sit back and let it go to f#@~k on them. how will this do anyone any good personally i would share everything i learned with anybody i thought it could benifit its this sort of mentality thats screwing the world over and the reason we have lost so many classic strains gone lost forever because of peoples greed wanting to keep the best for their selfs instead of shareing evrything we have i hope you can open up your mind and not be so negative
( not ment to be insulting or anything just trying to give you another perspective )

I agree, I feel it's much better help people out... I kinda not understand how helping others out is giving away all your "techniques" I'm sure some of them "techniques" were picked up seeing other people use them, then to call your own, well... I don't know about that.. I agree with @912GreenSkell & @stoney T the world would be much better place if people were not so selfish.. I totally agree about strains disappearing also and for that exact same reason you mentioned too. Honestly even if ya gave someone every single "technique" ya had, doesn't mean they could apply it, nor does it mean they will even remember 1/3 of what ya tell them..New growers are overwhelmed, so to think they can simply take all that info you have and apply it....... is well crazy...:2cents:
