Idea: Application for Testing Seeds

I am sure the vendors want the best growers to showcase their product with exemplary plants. Cool, I get that!

I learn a lot from these journals and reviews, but the growers' mastery has to be taken into consideration in order to be realistic when imagining what I might do with the seed.

The market, and the growers, are made up of all levels and many styles, and with the rapid wave of legalization around the globe more and more people are going to want to give growing a try.

It would be good to have testers of different skill levels. The strains that breeders claim are easy to grow could be tested by both less skilled as well as highly skilled growers, while more challenging strains would go to intermediate and expert. Level of expertise at that grow would be identified on the report.

On the topic of reviews- it is great that people report the plant height, but I find myself missing width or girth. Adding this to the template would be wonderful. No-one wants to have to tame a monster in a small space, or wish they would have planted more.

And I think Its good to see what genetics can do in less experienced hands..
It's easy to sell genetics when people like @TaNg grow it.. I would bet that he can do half a pound with frigin candle and pure ruderalis..

Spot on. A range of grower abilities is important, IMO.
I'd also like to suggest some kind of standardized worksheet, that each tester keeps and posts as a log. Medium, lighting, nutes, etc. I know it all comes out in a grow journal anyway, but maybe having it all in one would be easier to reference. Something like the smoke/grow reports section, but with more specifics, and room for growers notes. Gives someone new to the strain a basic grow manual, and new ideas to old hands.
Oh, and let me shake the rust off for a couple more months, and then count me in!

I'm new here so take it as a grain of salt but i feel like you should have a few completed grow logs before you can apply. Be bummer to see a bunch of test seeds and never see the results.

Yea thats a good idea although i dont get why people give out their texhniques personally i think its stupid if you worked hard to obtain them skills why give it out for free, just so someone else can skip the bumps in the road that the grower hit? Ill have to pass if it was me plus i like learning on my own. But your idea is a good one though!

I know why i do it man....to make the world a better place filled with tons of great weed, we all can grow ourselves. Its not stupidity to help others out man....its generosity.

thats for sure the right attitude if your trying to get paid from this hobby for sure . But on the flip side people like me who grow for personal i mean why not? Not like your making a buck off them either way.

this kind of thinking is not helpfull i understand you learn by the mistakes you make and all that but your telling me that if you see someone doing somthing wrong or inncorrect that could seriosly affect there grow you would just sit back and let it go to f#@~k on them. how will this do anyone any good personally i would share everything i learned with anybody i thought it could benifit its this sort of mentality thats screwing the world over and the reason we have lost so many classic strains gone lost forever because of peoples greed wanting to keep the best for their selfs instead of shareing evrything we have i hope you can open up your mind and not be so negative

In the 2 years i've been in the auto scene, i have seen a major shift towards seeds being given away for free ...
late 2016 ... getting 20+ free seeds was a major comp win !

today we have several major players just giving away seeds to get them grown and shown !!

im loving the do all comp part of this game !

we all benefit from this trend .. cheaper seeds and more testing !
