Idea: Application for Testing Seeds

I have been growing since some of you were in diapers. I have tested many strains for many breeders throughout the years. One thing I see on this site more than anywhere else is that many testers have minimal experience. Not ragging on anyone, just stating a fact. I have no idea why a breeder would have someone test seeds that has only grown a few plants to harvest. I have seen people just destroy perfectly good seedlings left and right around here that could be grown out wonderfully by another grower. It makes me laugh when I see some of the stupidity and wastefulness from a shear lack of experience. Anyone who starts off their thread with "this is my 3rd grow" and is a tester... shouldn't be testing anything. Unfortunately I see it all of the time, and that does not display the true results for the breeder or community. Not saying new growers don't deserve testers, but I wouldnt trust the results. That being said, as an experienced grower...I wouldn't want to test just any seeds. I don't need free hermies or subpar flower.

Oh dear its all a bit negative innit??? I dont see why anyone cant grow testers-if breeders see summat in a grower, why the fxxk not? I dont feel havin 3-30 or 300 grows should discount you from testin- some people have a knack fer pickin up stuff real quick-everyone knows someone who pretty much 'gets it' - playin musical instruments/plasterin walls/workin computers!!!!! etc and growin pot fits that description- l still make schoolboy errors and l am NO expert- people just seem to want the latest thing and you cant fault business people for wantin to work with willing growers showcasin their stuff
The fantasy of what people want (free seeds, green envy +prestige) is outweighed by the reality of the process(detailed descriptions, decent kit + regular updates) lve got more points but lm stoned duh!!

I can understand what you are saying but plants grown in different conditions produce different phenotypical expressions so variety in grow conditions and talent of a grower could only benefit the breeders with a lot of useful info otherwise not attainable from good growers. Such as pest problems . Ph fluctuations .
That is just my opinion

Well ,,,,,,, growing is fun :d5:. ,,,, I am pretty sure breeders know how to test , grow and even photograph their works quite well ;;;, so did I mention I want to grow in very small pots ,,will need lots and lots of seeds ,,, thank you :smoking:I think we should factor in casualties so a few on top of lots is better :bighug:

I have to disagree. With social media and forums such as this, why would a breeder knowingly want someone to display their gear looking like shit? For science? Obviously most testers are sharing pictures. It is free advertising for the breeders. I would not want Johnny Spidermite growing my seeds or showing off anything for promotions.

It is not only for advertising for the breeders. Also differences I growing technique. Genetics can make a crappy grower look good and a good grower great. Or the other way around . Can make a great grower look crappy if it is bad genetics.

You get what I am saying ? I can see your point of view . For instance those comparative grows that the vault holds . It is great for info for the breeders. Mephisto has it right in that respect. And it is free advertising.
Peace , happy growing .

In my experience the breeders want pretty pics of big plants, and a few words how it was grown, and my opinion because they are polite guys I think haha. That's it. Contrary to what some seem to believe, no breeders has own facilities to test grow hundreds of plants.
if you were a breeder, would you pay any attention to input from random growers with 1 or 2 plants from seeds and not clones other than the pics, if they are good of course.
I agree the effort and cost of mailing a few seeds is nothing compared to growing them.
Oh, and no breeders I know of is interested in regular reporting, waste of time
