Okay I'm sold. I just ordered a four bag one gallon set. Got a freezer full of shake and bud, yay!

A couple things to remember when extracting with ice:

1. Like said above, MAKE SURE to NOT overload your bubble bags!
2. Stirring by hand will ALMOST ALWAYS yield superior product than when using power mixer. If power mixer must be used (easier with 5 gal, 1 gal is not too bad by hand) use on extremely low setting.
3. If possible start with ice that has defined sharp edges. (rounded pieces of ice do not break trichomes off of leaf matter as easily.)
4. If you get any green foam collecting in bags when mixing, you are mixing too fast, or possibly for too long. If you end up with a green tint before you realize and its too late, not too worry (should be only in first bag (hopefully just "work bag", that is your 220 micron. Usually black) maybe 2nd bag as well. Any bag beyond that should come pretty clean.
5. When adding water to your bags, pour very slowly and use EXTREMELY cold water. The less this pour causes the sharp edges on your ice cubes to melt, the sharper the cubes the better (see #3).
6. Be delicate while stirring/mixing. Remember, the more you can extract without breaking the resin heads, the better your final product will be.

Hope this helps a bit for those of your who will be trying this for the first time or those of you trying to improve quality of your bubble.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the indica dominant plants generally have bigger resin heads than sativa dominant strains. This being said, when you are using multiple strains, keep your different grades of bubble hash (different micron sizes) seperate after extraction and keep them labeled or sorted. After you are fineshed keep in mind that your higher micron screens will produce heavier indica type hash highs than your smaller screen sizes (like 90/73) those smaller sizes will normally yield superior sativa trippy type full melt. You will not be disappointed!!
Peace!

When making bubble, I'm usually going for yield over quality, as its' usually after outdoor season and I have an *ahem* bit of trim to run...

That being said...some very good points in last post...

I completely agree with #2. ALWAYS STIR BY HAND. I don't care if you're using 1 gallon or 20 gallon bags. With 20 gallon use an oar. :D 99.999999% of the time hand-stirred will be of higher quality than blended. Also blenders can damage your bags. ;)

I also agree with #3, but I go one further. I like some chunks, but a lot of crushed ice. Snow is even better. The best quality bubble I ever made was 100% snow used, added frequently. I like my water to get almost slushy-like, maximing the amount of surface area for trichs to come into contact with, thereby more easy to break off.

Excellent point about the size of gland heads with indica vs. sativa. I find most often (when running for personal stash) that the 73 bag often contains the magic with indicas, the 45 bag for sativas.

I also like to do the work (stirring) in one bucket, and the pour-through process in multiple other buckets. Speeds things up IMO. I also freeze my trim beforehand, don't remember if that had been mentioned or not. And I prefer using fresh trim. :2cents:

Excellent point sir!! I freeze my trim beforehand too, matter of fact it is frozen (sealed in freezer) very soon after it dries completely.

I don't even dry mine...I freeze it right after chop. The sugar trim from dried buds goes into BHO 'round my way...

Holy crap, Making bubble hash is cheap and easy!
001.jpg

All I did was order the $24.99 one gallon four bag set from e-bay and made this the same day they showed up. This is the first hash I've ever made and it was one of the simplest things I've ever done. However, I am at a moment of impasse. The directions in subcools video get a bit hazy at this point and I'm stuck on what to do. I've been keeping this hash in the freezer overnight trying to figure out the next step. Do I just let it thaw into itself on some wax paper or do I have to heat it? Any help is appreciated.

Got an eBay link? $25 sounds like a steal.. I've been looking to get away from making qwiso for awhile now..

piggy...the purpose of the freezer is to dry out the hash quicker. you want to freeze it then take it out to let it "sweat" then put it back in the freezer, take it out repeat. I know it's so tempting, but don't use that pressing screen to press the water out. you're actually pressing the water into the hash and you could be trapping water in there, taking it forever to dry out.
