New Grower I probably should have waited until fall...

Knowing she was female (and misunderstanding the timeframe - I thought it was 10wks start to finish when it's really 10-12wks flowering), I didn't wait much to flip on the Bloom switch on the light, and call it 'flowering' so it was about 5wks from seed. At that point I ramped up to almost full strength nutes across the board too - not thinking the grow nutes would hurt. After another week or two was when I cut out the grow (mainly because she was still getting tons of N). Pic attached from my growlog that day.

Thanks JRock. I will read the thread for sure. This is valuable information since you have the same plant and using AN. I have been following the feeding schedule pretty much to a tee, except giving less, ranging from 1/2 to 2/3 strength. Just started big bud three weeks ago.

For your tracking purposes, what did you consider to be the start of flowering. Showing sex, pistils, preflower?
This is what I consider the beginning of flower for nutrient switch:

Ya, I'm definitely not the expert around here. I just haven't seen many people with Critical Purple so figured I'd chime in :)

I appreciate it, Jrock! I have had the same issues with finding experi necessary with CP, so thanks man for jumping in and sharing those experiences. I only asked about the flowering definition to make sure I can compare that period with what is happening on my plant. You have been very helpful.

That last picture you shared, was that as 5 weeks from seed? It looks like my plant now, which is in its 8th week from seed. Must have been the heat issues.

I dropped the seed in h2o on 420, she cracked in 48hrs, was above soil 3 days later, and that pic is 5/31. If my math is right, that puts her at 6wks less a day in that pic or 5wks since first 'true' leaves.

....also just checked the growlog, 5wks +6days...

In my experience heat will stunt anything for sure. If you can't get it under control I've read that you can push temps waaaay up if you get your nutes chilled- but I've never done it myself.

I think that is where I am. Thinking about it, the heat stress, or what I thought was heat stress may have been intensified by the light's proximity. Thanks man again for the encouragement and good information.

I inquired to growers choice on my slow flowering Gorilla Glue. This is what they said:

Please adjust the cycle to 12/12 until you begin to see signs of flowering, such as pistil growth, etc. Once the plant begins to flower you may increase the light cycle again.

Looks like I did that, and it did start to show pistils before I increased the light. I should be good, right? I would hate to go back to 12/12 if the plants will continue to progress through flowering. They seem to be able to handle the lights and heat better now.

What do you think?

Another challenge. I think my plants are photo-autos. Since I increased the lights, the plants haven't progressed any closer to flower. Growers Choice said I can increase the lights after pistils are showing as that would trigger the flowering. I think I need to move these plant back to12/12 for them TO flower. So, I made the change today.

Hopefully, I don't lose much with the reduced light through the rest of the grow. I really didn't need this with my first grow. Why couldn't I get auto-auto seeds?

Ok, so just pop the, back on 12/12 and see what happens in two or three days. Adjust to what you see...time to call an audible. You got this. I have had this happen to me once as well. Took a little longer, but I still managed to finish them out. You can do the same. We just need to figure out what they want.
Make the adjustment, then wait. Still looking healthy, so there is potential. Such a great growing experience. Your second grow is going to seem so easy, and sometimes that is the best thing for a new grower. You have learned a lot about growing you may have never learned had this grow gone perfectly, and then who knows later how bad things could have gone wrong?

All about perspective and staying focused on the plants in front of you. This hobby teaches discipline.
