I cant get a grasp on starting up an organic grow

Okay im at day 68, pics were taken a day or so ago... Ive gave them tea maybe 3-4 times in the past 2-3 weeks, other than that its been straight water.... I have a lot of fade going on with the smoothies... These were gro pro 5 gallon fabric pots, which will hold a whole 7 gallons.... First time organic grower, 6-7 yrs hydro.... First autos in at least 5 years.... I feel like soil is nice, I still want to learn more about it... I want to see if these autos convince me to switch from hydro to organic... Not trained as much as I like, but it was a lazy grow in the corner of my veg tent 4x8 under qb288 led 3500k with 660 added... 250 watts on killawatt anyways here are the pics at day 66 or 67

Just wanted to bring up that what you are seeing is not an end of life fade.. That fade that you're seeing is caused by under feeding. And it started well before the plant was at the end of life. Teas once a week is a little much depending on the concentration. The tea I use is a once a month thing ... Most teas don't feed the plant.. They provide microbe life and food for the life in the soil. Depending on what was in your soil at the start of the grow, you may need to top dress at some point on your grows.. So if this is day 70ish, I'd say a light top dress would be needed around day 30-35. Just something to keep in mind for your next organic grow! Congrats on the upcoming harvest!

@Proph thanks a lot man, you have been more than helpful.... If it wasnt for you 80 days ago, these beans would've been in 5qt coco dtw.... You gave me the confidence, and the run down on soil and keeping it live.... I tried to keep up, but with life going on and me having about 80 sqft of flowering canopy(photos/dtw) I kinda let my mind get too busy for me.... I forgot a lot of what I learned.... You told me from the jump to keep my soil alive.... I learned a little this time, im ready for a round two.... Hopefully you're around when its time to recycle this soil... Can it be reused??? Also I gave my new lsd 25 tea twice... Ands its already faded( light green) should I be top dressing now? Worm castings? Compost? A mixture of things?

Im glad I was able to help. In general, yes, soil can be reused for years.. And generally, the more it's used, the better it gets (if kept alive). The LSD 25 if definitely showing signs of being hungry. Water only grows are tough to pull off in small containers (1-7 gallons).. A top dress is almost always needed in the smaller containers. That's because of the root mass. It actually takes up a good amount of space and can use up the available food pretty quickly. I don't mix my own top dresses. The amounts and ratios have to be spot on or it can cause issues. I leave that up to the pros in the labs to do, lol. I use the build a soil nutrient pack for my top dress. It has a blend of over 15 different amendments in the proper ratios that are needed.. I use 1/2 a cup per plant as needed. In total the NPK is about 3-5-2.. It's also what I use to re-amend soil before I reuse it.

Ok good news and news to use. First off yes you have chloramines so continue with the ascorbic acid. They are between 4 PPM and 2.11 PPM.
50mg per gallon of ascorbic acid will treat water with 3.8 PPM of chloramines. So I would use 55mg per gallon to be safe.

Good news is the calcium carbonate (Alkalinity) is a little high but the PPM of Calcium and Magnesium add up to 34.1 plus the other minerals picked up in your pipes and I would expect you have starting water PPM ~ 125. This is very good water.

I just looked back through the thread and you state starting water is ~200 PPM. Do yo live in an old city with cast iron pipes or an old house? Do you have a water softener? Because you are picking up 75 PPM of something somewhere?

hey fam!!! i have 2 cuft malibu compost, i have kelp from green leaf nutrients, i have crustacean meal, and alfalfa meal, i also have biochar... should i add any of this stuff to my soil, especially the new lsd baby??? if not i have some craft blend/ as well as topdress kit in my cart from buildasoil... is craft blend better than topdress kit? im also out of soil, i may start the next bean in coco dtw... i like the soil so im still wanting to learn it... anybody making their own soil with coco instead of peat??? i bought the compost so i can make about 9 cuft of soil, but i wanna use perlite, and coco instead of lava rocks and peat... even if i use peat, i want perlite for aeration... if i get this right... i cant wait to switch from dtw to soil beds... time for some pics
