New Grower Hog's First Grow

:pass:

You can start babies around this time and go perpetual, just try and time it right so the light height is not so insanely different but i guess you could always boost them up on boxes providing the 4 giants you have don't block the light like a rain forest does below its canopy lol i doubt it tho, my 4 giants can't completely block out the light below and my baby is doing ok, their ages are 7 weeks on my 4 giants and 4 weeks old on the baby below and it works pretty good. when dry time comes i'll move the baby to a 2.3x2.3 tent i have ready.

As for using colloidal silver or STS (I never used STS) i recommend getting a cheap useless tent like a 2x2 or smaller and throwing 2 plants in there applying CS/STS to a branch or 2 NOT THE WHOLE PLANT like i did. you don't want a nuclear reactor of pollen like what i have going on plus you can smoke the rest of the buds if you only apply it to a lower branch or 2. you can not smoke any buds that CS/STS were applied too, bro science says it will kill you.
I can agree with our body not being able to get rid of heavy metals but i think i will risk vaping it in my solo or extreme Q still... i looked up the vape point of silver and it comes nowhere close to the 225C max i go on my vape.

Sorry for the long talk i just vaped red gorilla girl xl that i chopped yesterday, a few buds fell off when i was drying off buds i washed (dropped the plant in the dirt:face:) i dried the small buds and vaped them this morning and I'm pretty stoned
No worries man, appreciate the info. Yeah I would plan on not smoking whatever plant o sprayed probably. Its all theoretical at this point to me, lol. I'll be following along to see how yours goes. I would go perpetual now, but im probably going to Colorado for 10 days or so in October. I'll take a beak and get my next grow setup with adjustments from this time and then try perpetual when I get back.

Day 38: Muchachas. Day 35: Forum Stomper + Strawberry Nuggets x Pink Panama
Day Temp: 81° Humidity: 65%
Night Temp: 74° Humidity: 68%
Light: FCE4800 12" @ 100%

Just a quick photo update. Not much more to report. SNxPP seems fine after my unintentional injury to her.

Day 39: Muchachas. Day 36: Forum Stomper + Strawberry Nuggets x Pink Panama
Well, I may have gone a little overboard on defol for the Muchacha #2 and Forum Stomper. Gonna leave the other two alone and see how these two react. Definitely more light to the bud sites and airflow, just hope i didn't go too far. I've seen signs of calcium deficiency. Im assuming its lockout due to salt buildup lowering the ph in the bottom of the pot. I need to lookup the chart but maybe too much N also locks out calcium. Ive washed the trays and given just rainwater ph 6.6, 45ppm. Boredom and anxiety may have gotten the better of me today. Oh well, time will tell how they weather the stress. Thanks for stopping by!

Well Hog I'm a little late to the party but Welcome ! It looks like your venture has moved along pretty well, I jumped over a number of pages.

I'm in Illinois also, SE near the Wabash. I do my thing outdoors, last year was my first go at it. Like you I was mainly motivated by the tragic and unrealistic price demanded by the stores. I wanted to mention, and you're probably on top of things but just to have your back, if you have a license then yes to my knowledge you are still limited to 5 but totally legal. If you do not, 5 is a misdemeanor costing up to 200$ plus court costs but jail time is not on the table it's not even part of the equation ever. After 5 it becomes a felony afaik.

Good luck with your grow Hog hope you knock down a good batch of bud

Yeah, I got my MMJ card, but mu understanding is that right now its now even a misdemeanor, its considered 'violation' like a traffic violation, and $200 fine. There is also a bill going through the state legislature to expand the 5 plant home grow limit to every household as long as the person(s) are over 21 and its locked, out of view etc... And over 5 is a felony no matter what. Thanks for looking out though and thanks for checking out my journal!

Running into problems. My bluelab pen won't recalibrate so my readings have probably been off for 1week+. Trying to find my receipt to get a replacement l, but ordered an appraisal anyway that will be here by Sunday. The soil in Muchacha #2s potbhas become hydropobic, at least the top two inches or so. Im looking into how to use Yucca to fix that problem. Strawberry nuggets x Pink Panama has a lot of signs of calcium deficiency and the new leaves are spindly and curled, kinda of like N Tox, maybe light stress (it keeps growing closest to the lights) any advice is appreciated. @DDubs @Dankerson

Get your pH and the hydrophobic issue figured out first and then see if that fixes the other problems. If the pH in the soil is off then the plant won't be able to uptake nutrients correctly so that would be the main thing to square away. Based on the picture it could be a P def but it's hard to tell exactly.

Itll likely take at least 2/3 days at least before you start to see noticeable improvement once you correct the issues above and it may even get slightly worse before it gets better. I use about 1/8 tbsp of yucca per 5 gallons of water so only a very small amount is needed.

to Thats what I figured, on the way to the grow shop now. Appreciate the quick reply

If you're worried your soil pH is off too much you could do a minor flush with about 20% run off that is pH'd correctly too. I've used bush doctors sledgehammer flush before but that was more for a nutrient build up issue so I probably wouldn't use that here.

Only time I'll ever actually consider flushing is when I need to fix an issue in the soil.

Its really just that one plant thats having major problems. The Two Muchachas have a couple spots of brown, but thats on older growth and doesn't seem to be spreading. And the Forum Stomper seems fine as well, at least for now. I've been bottom feeding, probably part of the reason that pot has gotten hydrophobic? Not sure how to handle the flush and yucca as far as that goes, probably shouldn't have switched methods partway through. At least Im learning today, lol. And I don't think it will end up being a serious issue, just a bit of frustration on my end. Thanks again!
