Aight fellow dopers! Thought I'd finally register after reading your posts for the last couple of weeks, with much interest, but being too stoned to actually bother registering! (I mean to actually have to type a password twice! AND think of a Username, just far too much effort when high as a kite!) Haha.
But anyway, joking aside, a bit about me... Firstly, I'm new to the auto scene. I have my first auto grow going at the moment, which I'll get onto some more in a bit... Ermm, I'd say I'm a semi-experienced grower in general but far from a pro, I've grown a couple of photo's indoors before (one hydro nft and one soil both under hps) and also had some experience growing photo's outdoors in UK too (yes photo's can be done in Uk all you doubters! ;-) but this is my first experience with auto's and I can't wait to see how they come along... I think they're going pretty good so far.
Here's a bit more about the grow...
It's an Outdoor Uk grow (London) with use of a heated greenhouse for nightime and when weather is dismal in the day, but plants mainly outdoors when the weathers half decent.
Seeds:
Dutch Passion's - Think Different, Star-ryder and Autoxtreme.
Age: 25-27 days since germination.
(I know I know, I should have planted a month or 2 earlier than I have!) :-(
Growing media:
20Ltr pots/containers for the Think Different and the Auto-xtreme.
10Ltr pot/container for the Star-ryder
All pots contain 30% soil-based compost (John Innes no2), 40% cactus compost, 20% perlite, 10% Vermiculite.
Lighting:
The sun.
All-be-it the UK sun :-(
Firstly, I have to have a little rant here, about the 'soil-based compost' that is John Innes no2! I bought this thinking it would be ideal to mix with the cactus compost (the cactus compost was perfect, a good/light texture, peat-sand based compost, being slightly acidic ph.5.5-6.0 and very airy/free draining it's the best soil/compost I've come across! but I wanted to mix the John Innes in to add a bit of variation in regards to beneficial micro-organisms/bacteria etc in the 'end' soil) but this John Innes no2 'soil based' stuff was a total joke! Really thick heavy, almost clay-ey texture and with loads of gravel in it too! It weighed a tonne and I was not impressed at all. I don't know if I just got a bad patch or not? Have you guys any experience with this stuff?!
Anyway, on a brighter note, the cactus soil (40% of complete mix) was perfect, and was mildly fertilised with enough for plant growth for the first 3-4 weeks, which I believe is when auto's start to really explode with growth, so I figured I could have full control over nutes from week 3-4, so seems perfect.
Anyway, with that said, I've just started using mild nutes today (age 25-27days) but until today I've only really used Canna Rhizo for first 2-3 weeks and Cannazyme since about day 21. But I think they are about at the stage where they will explode with growth now (if we get some bloody sun!) so I started with mild nutes today, of which are just standard 'flowering/bloom' nutes from garden centre, npk is 3-7-9 so I started off with a quarter/third dose for now and see how they go and how the weather goes etc.
As for nutes later on, I have Canna boost and Canna pk13-14, I will definitely use the pk13-14 at around 3 weeks from harvest but the canna boost I think I'm only going to bother using if we get some really pro-longed sunny weather, otherwise I feel I'll be speeding up my plant to produce nothing (if no sun/energy if that makes sense?) and don't want to shorten it's life cycle during poor sunlight days. That's just my thinking on it anyway!? Let me know if you guys agree/disagree?
I will try and post up some pics of my ladies over the next couple of days, but in the meantime, a BIG hello to all of you and any tips/advise on auto's or these strains in particular, please feel free to advise me! A lot of what I've learnt so far has been from this forum, so a Big thankyou to you guys/girls for your great advice!
Thanks for reading my essay
All tips, advice & feedback appreciated...
Much love!
