im gonna use 3 plants each tote... i have one more large tote i wanna use for mother plants only so i wont have to keep buying seeds

If you're doing autos there are no mothers. You can clone them but their age is predetermined. If you just mean having photoperiod mothers inside along with your autos that's fine. Consider buckets though, you can manage your plants a lot easier in individual containers.


I did 4 autos in a single 30gal tote my first grow and had issues with roots entangling and one cannibalizing the other.

Here's 4 autos in about half of a 6.25 sq ft tent. Single tote 30gal DWC

And 25ish dirt plants in 32sq ft.

4 plants there, and 125grams of bud.

Smaller, faster plants. Those were 63days seed to weed. But otherwise just different styles of grow.

No, I grow in coco/perlite. Sorry no pictures, but my grow is nothing special, just 3 to 5 gallon Air-Pots and Hempy pots jammed in an appox. 2.5 x 5 ft. tent with AutoCOBs, with plants that just don't get 'big' but average ≥3 oz.

I was just giving an alternative view regarding "hydro autos left to grow as they please need a bare minimum of 4 sq ft each." Many indoor growers do rather well growing plants at higher density, giving them less space to begin with.
