Grow Room Heating Solution For Attic Grow in Cold Climate

No you won't, he needs 110vac 60Hz and not UK 230vac50Hz.

But tubular heaters are available everywhere, he'll find one easily enough.

Depending on space, you need clear space around the pots at floor level, is a small fan heater, NOT a "Handy Heater" thing which I don't trust, so warm air blows around at pot level. Cheap as hell and forced heating will always beat convection, just don't have it blowing at pots.
I'm not exactly sure what you're advising, a ceramic heater? Example, if you would, please & thank you

Doesn't have to be ceramic, just a fan/heater but not the type that plugs straight into the wall socket.

It's always an option, plenty small ones out there with thermostats, use one myself

Edit

You know, something like this, all depends on the size of space you're trying to heat up

I see what you're saying. I was liking the thought of the tube heater because it seemed the heat would be spread out, rather than blowing hot air directly. My thoughts were the tube heating, behind an oscillating fan. I've used fan heaters and I haven't liked any of them in the tent, heat wasn't dispersed evenly. How is yours set up?

There are ways.....but as you say, they’re common so he shouldn’t have a problem.

Are you using these? I'm curious how well it heats. I have an 8x4 and without heating the room right now, it would get to 65° or less, lights out.

I found these, wonder how well they do...

I have one but don’t use it now as my room is warm enough. I have just used it whilst on holiday (central heating turned off) and it works a treat, I have great air circulation which propels the warmth around nicely. Seems to maintain the temps nicely. Good luck!!

@BWM I just noticed who you really are, hahaha. What size heater (watts) is yours, what space was it heating? I have an 8x4, any ideas on length needed...4 ft, (2) 4 ft? I also have lots of air circulating,I just bought a 16" hurricane oscillating fan. Did you see the link I posted for my availability? Recommendations appreciated.

Btw, sorry to hijack your thread @FWB , I'm hoping this is all relevant enough, in your search.

My tent is 80cm x 80cm x 180cm. I got a 2ft/80w heater and it does the job easily. Not sure what length you’d need but I do have a 300w version that easily heats my bathroom which is much bigger than your grow space. Hope that helps somewhat.

Also, the one I have is water/moisture proof which gives piece of mind......

I'm not in a tent, just a room with good ventilation that's probably half the square footage of yours, I just have it set so it blows down the side of the pot before getting caught by the "upper" fan which sends it round over the plant.

The thing with any convection heater is that, first and foremost, a hell of a lot of heat will go straight up and into your extraction, defeating the purpose, but you can fit "deflectors" which send the convection currents "inwards" and stops so much going straight up and out. Also fit on the opposite side to your filter so it has to be drawn across the space and then out. 8x4? Then I think you'll need more than 80w, I'd look at at least double that, split on either side of your space, with deflectors, instead of 2 foot tubulars look at 3 footers as it's always easier to turn them down instead of running them at full tilt all the time.

It's why I prefer the fan assisted, it may use more watts but it runs for short periods so the overall cost isn't so high as you think

I found that pointing my fan across my tent and down at the tube heater was best for me. I had it in front of my passive intake hole but that was a bad move as it had to work constantly due to cooler air passing through it. It’s common sense really, you can’t really mess it up.
Banjacked is correct, you’ll need more than 80w I’d look at double that like he says. Maybe 2x 100w? That should give you plenty of poke.

Thanks, that's good info to ponder. I have a 1500w ceramic heater, a few years old, outside the tent. Its pulling almost as much power as everything in the 8x4.

I think I may end up trying a couple tube heaters behind circulating fan.
