Photoperiod Has anyone tried seed to flowering plant under 12/12 lighting from the start?

Auto SoG i just finished 54" X16"wide....7 strains in 1.5 gallon pots

Whoa! Thanks for all the replies!!
I thought it would be too good to be true. I only really considered it because Royal queen seeds suggested it and I think they're a reputable company...
I guess I won't be doing it.

If you have a bunch of extra seeds you want to try i would try it...I actually increase my overall space yields with autos once i switched to smaller pots and started doing SoG grows. If space management is proper you could pull lots of weed from an SoG 12/12 seed grow.
I would like to point out i am not a fly by night grower...i have been doing this for over 25 seasons outdoors and around a decade indoors.

Would Autos respond to a 12/12 light cycle? I thought they were bred to flower automatically when they were ready hence the name.

Sorrry....the auto SoG grow i have been doing is not on 12/12, but they are on 24/0. Thats right man, true autos will flower on their own regardless of light regime. Running autos under 12/12 costs you yield.

I think it's strain dependent, been looking at different ones and on SOME seed bank sites they'll tell you what gives the best response and, as far as I've seen, some do 12/12 better than others.

Hi guys,

I came across this article which says its possible to go from seed straight to flowering by maintaining a 12/12 flowering cycle from the start. Has anyone tried it? I'm very curious....

I've done it before using some Dutch passion Durban Poison. Running 4 bins with 4 clones/seeds of strains in each under 2000w. The Durban Poison bin of seeds was thrown in late after I couldn't get anything else so it maybe got 3 days of Veg before flower. Stretchy, not potent, hay smelling.

I hear a lot of good things about Durban Poison and I have had some amazing Durban Poison myself but that seed run was definitely not Durban Poison. Whether it be because of no Veg time therefor less flower time or what but it still finished within the time span of every other strain in the room.

Interesting things happen when you run random tests yourself.

I've effectively done this with some photos outside,
because I'm sub-tropical, and my natural light cycles are close to 12/12.
Different strains will take different length of time to show sex / flower.

One Northern Lights took about ... 4 weeks (IIRC).
A few Mandala Safaris took about ... 3-4 weeks (IIRC).

This season I took some F2 of the Safaris (the above are already F1),
and they are taking maybe 3-4 weeks as well, effectively.

So, yeah, can do it. Of course, yield nothing like vegging big for photos...

If you want some better grows to check out,
Sannies Seeds (Google it) has some.
In particular, Sannies Jack (Jack Herer bred out to F7 or F8 or something now),
he grows them often straight from 12/12.
He's trying to breed for from seed SoG.

And, the cool thing is, for the Sannies Jack,
and some of the other Sannies strains like Killing Fields, Silver Fields,
Shackzilla, and so on, he has info on number of plants per sq meter (10 sq ft).

Here, for 2 weeks veg, he does 5 plants / 1 m2.
And for no veg, straight 12/12, he does 9 or 16 plants / 1 m2.
https://www.sanniesshop.com/sannies-jack-feminized.html
He has similar info / data for other strains.

And check out @islandgrower 's perpetual journal.
He's tropical too, so pretty much 12/12 all the way...

What's up, @Cerul, and also my friend @912GreenSkell and anyone else interested in this topic. I see that the thread is pretty stagnate, but for posterity I will post. I have had great success growing 12/12 start to finish from seed.....not so much with clones. I clone constantly for my photo cab, but I have found that clones just don't produce for me from a 12/12 cycle. Starting seeds from 12/12 is far better, provided you choose a reputable breeder with proven (at least to you) genetics. What has worked for me is to choose anything from a pure sativa with a 12+ week flowering period, to a good sativa leaning hybrid (60/40) with at least a 10 week flower. The longer flower period seems to give the roots time to develop enough to produce a really decent harvest. (on par with most autos) I see that @MariaSanchez (hello Maria ) mentioned Sannies Jack. I have done that particular plant on a 12/12 cycle......matter of fact......

I have grown a TON of Sannie's gear. I will start a 12/12 from seed on the Killingfields, since it is the only fem that I have left from Sannie. It has an 11-13 week flower period. Since I have limited space in my photo cab, I will start only1 seed (2g pot) today or tomorrow. I will come back and post a link here, so people can see the results of a real time 12/12. I have never done this cycle with the Kf before, but it yields heavy. With just 21days in veg in a 2g pot, I averaged 3oz from 4 plants under a 1000w hps, and they shared the room with 4 other plants. (different strains) I am expecting the Kf to perform well. We will see.

update: I added the link to my sig.

Here are a couple pics of my last 12/12 run. It consisted of 12 plants in 2g pots. Medium was amended coco coir watered with pure rainwater, molasses and a kelp/fulvic/humic liquid mix at every watering. I added an extra 5ml of cal/mag at every other watering. (had pelletized lime added to medium). Extra omri rated potassium was added to water week 5-9 of flower.Week 10 only water and molasses. Strains: Female Seeds' Grapefruit & Bubble Gummer, and Delicious Seeds' Critical Sensi Star. Sensi Star Is indica leaning, and the Bubble Gummer and Grapefruit are definitely more sativa leaning hybrids. All 3 of these strains only had 60 day flower periods. I pulled them all at day 70, with milky to amber trichs. (a few clear here and there) I got 22oz from the 12 combined plants.

Plants are in week 8 flower. 600w hps with 2x Mars Hydro 300w (about 130w actual) 850w average. LED's on first 6 hours only.

Plant with yardstick is the biggest of the Grapefruit strain.

I moved a few plants out to better illustrate the setup.

I forgot, but the green baskets are 3.5g
