Threw a few cracked beans out last week, trying some new techniques to see how things go. Used clear plastic mat to warm the soil on some of the plants, and used opaque plastic cups to protect seedlings and also act as a mini greenhouse of sorts. They should grow out the top in a few weeks, cups will be left in place until harvest time. These are fem Think Different X Moby Dick seeds I created last year. Sprayed surrounding area with insecticide mixed with garlic/hot pepper spray, hopefully will keep them from being eaten. Also added 'piss bomb' (pop bottle filled with urine/alcohol mix with rope wick inserted) in nearby brush. I wont be visiting this spot often, but will try to update occasionally. Holes were drilled with 8" gas auger and soil amended with organic mix. They are approximately 5 gallon volume, but surrounding soil is sandy and soft so given adequate rain, plants should get decent sized.

Its not really 'hidden' but its in a small ravine type area that you wouldnt really see unless you ran right into it, on private land that probably isnt explored much until hunting season starts, gets pretty much full sun all day long and is sloping gradually from west to east so will get a lot of light first thing in the morning. Looks like native grasses and shrubs are about 2 feet tall when they fill in, so plants should be able to outgrow them, but shouldnt stand out horribly.

Update on a couple spots,
First has photo regular fems I got from Oregon Green Seed. Planted 4 each of two different varieties, Amnesia Hashplant and Cindy's Blue Cheese. Prepped the holes before vegetation started growing and wouldnt you know, planted in the middle of a fucking poison ivy patch!!!
Here are a few pics of my better plants, they have been out 3 weeks and were planted under cups as 2 week old seedlings. They have really taken off and as the weather warms more, should add some size quickly.

Another spot with 6 photo fem's I got from Mephisto (cuz Im special) I dont remember the genetics but according to Mitch, they finished in Ireland so hopefully they get started early enough for South Central Canada also... These were planted without cups at the same time as the above plants were, these are a few days older however.

Planted 3 Walter White auto fems from Mephisto, these were cracked in paper towel and planted with a 1/2 inch tap root under cups.

Also planted about 14 self made seeds in the side of a berm that I found, its sandy soil but had some weeds growing well so I figured it would be worth a shot. They are dinafem Moby Dick feminized pollen given to a Mephisto HBSS female. These werent soaked/cracked before planting but they were each watered in slightly. 7 were planted using Espoma garden tone, 1/4 cup and 7 were planted using osmocote time release fertilizer, about 1 tablespoon dug in slightly. Not much to see yet! These are the organic ones...

Always look forward to OD grows, so hope you don't mind if I take along.

Always like to see what other Northern Lat growers are growing for genetics.

May I ask what Lat you are at? If not I completely understand.

Looking great so far, but what a bitch planting in the Poison Ivy. Sounds like something I would do :)

Peace, and sending ya massive OD growing Karma,

~Stick

As far as genetics go, this year Im growing Cindy's Blue Cheese and Amnesia Hashplant from OGS. Some mystery photo fems from Mephisto, if they turn out good, Ill have to ask Mitch more about them. Think Different x Moby Dick, Think Different x Hubbabubbasmelloscope, NL x BB auto, Mephisto autos Chemdogging, Triangle Kush, Ripleys OG, SODK, Walter White, White Triangle, Auto Ghost Train Haze, HBSS and maybe a few more I cant remember right now. No large numbers, just a few of each to see how they do.

Went out to check some of the plants I put out 3 weeks ago, these were all planted as seed, soaked overnight. I planted about 40 seeds and have 34 plants, not too shabby, they should be just about ready to take off, got some nice warm weather forecast in the next week. Some of the surrounding grass was starting to shade them, it was cut back and they were also sprayed with garlic/pepper/eggwhite/insecticide spray.

Checked a few plants this morning, these are about 4 weeks old now. Not growing like I had hoped, but they aint dead either, so maybe they will produce something eventually...
