Grow kit question

@burittomann :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:Your link is ok, be sure to read the rules so you do not link to stuff you should not:

The kit has most of the basic pieces. The quality is unknown to me. For $30 more I would go with the larger size. I find 4ft² is what it takes on average per plant. More height will be a huge asset.

The light strength is questionable. Whenever they do not give you the actual watts used I am skeptical. It might be better to plan to replace it after a grow or two. It is the single most important factor in a quality crop.

I would also look at the Mars Hydro Kits. We have an online rep @Marshydro and you will get a much better quality light. They are a little more money but if you wait until Black Friday next week you could get a better deal?

The other thing you could do is just use the kit like a template for what you need and piece it out. I am a cheapskate but it is better to buy one good piece of equipment than two cheap ones. First the light then the tent then the exhaust system, These need to be durable.

Will do

What kind of budget do you have? Do you know the general temp/humidity for your home? You need

Light - 135w HLG quantum board is perfect
Growing medium
Container
Ratchet straps
Ducting 4"
4" exhaust fan
Tent - 2x2.5x6 gorilla grow tent is good
Fan for circulation - clip or tower
Timer for lights
Hygrometer
Carbon filter
Nutrients depending on your method

You may need a humidifier/dehumidifier depending on your climate.

The kits are okay but most of it is low quality stuff that you'll end up replacing if funds allow within a year.
Thanks for the list! i dont have a specific budget. I'd say $500 tops is what id want to spend. I'm not sure about the humidity, but the house stays around 73ish

Thanks for all the replies! ill go with a mars hydro light + larger grow tent + piece my kit together myself, if it works out cheaper that way. I have 7 months till it's legal to grow here, so i'm in no rush.

idgo with living organic soil most likely. possibly w/ precharged soils
That is an excellent choice and here is a qualified Organic soil grower than can help get you started in the right direction. @Proph

Precharged soils work but have a learning curve for feeding that trips up a lot of growers.

Thanks! I have 7ish months before i can grow, so i plan on educating myself thoroughly.

im going to do lots of studying before i grow. Does anybody have any resources/threads they recommend? I want to understand the whole growing process thoroughly

Maybe theres not a lot. But before i grow i want to understand topping - when to and when not to. And i want to understand training, and what nutrients to add and when, and how to read the plants to understand what symptoms they are experiencing and how to fix it, etc.

Jorge Cervantes' Indoor Grow Bible is easy to digest and straight to the point. Some things will be outdated like lighting but this is an easy catchall.

Harley Smith does great classes on nutrition

Bruce Bugbee breaks down lighting and several videos and the need for a quantum sensor

the 9 Key Parameters is my favorite of the webinars
