I hope this doesnt go against any rules, if so i apologize and feel free to remove my post

First, i'm a total beginner, i've never grown cannabis. Is this grow tent kit a decent starter? it's 2'x2'x4' and has a 300 watt led light.

If not, do you have any better suggestions? i'm just looking to grow 2 plants at a time, and dont need anything crazy fancy, but i do want a successful grow.

@burittomann :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:Your link is ok, be sure to read the rules so you do not link to stuff you should not:

The kit has most of the basic pieces. The quality is unknown to me. For $30 more I would go with the larger size. I find 4ft² is what it takes on average per plant. More height will be a huge asset.

The light strength is questionable. Whenever they do not give you the actual watts used I am skeptical. It might be better to plan to replace it after a grow or two. It is the single most important factor in a quality crop.

I would also look at the Mars Hydro Kits. We have an online rep @Marshydro and you will get a much better quality light. They are a little more money but if you wait until Black Friday next week you could get a better deal?

The other thing you could do is just use the kit like a template for what you need and piece it out. I am a cheapskate but it is better to buy one good piece of equipment than two cheap ones. First the light then the tent then the exhaust system, These need to be durable.

The next step is to decide how to grow. We have specialist here for every style to help you get started. Don't rush in. read about the different styles before you decide.

heya @burittomann and :welcome: to afn! :toke: whatever brand tent u get, i'd highly recommend gettin one that has at least a 5 ft height, cuz u hafta figger in not only the height of the plantz, but also the pot height, as well as the light distance from the plantz...jus sayin ;) i'd also suggest goin with soil the first time around, as it'z a lot more forgiving ;) overall, u truly don't need to spend a zillion buckz or apply rocket science in order to grow decent weed, especially autoz

ppp & cya round the farm! :headbang:

Welcome to the forum
I'm not the most experienced (beginner level) but that Amazon kit looks like a piece of sh1t to me.
Black Friday is coming up soon so I would wait for that at least.
Forum vendor/sponsor Mars Hydro are supposed to be having a Black Friday sale so definitely have a look at that.

What kind of budget do you have? Do you know the general temp/humidity for your home? You need

Light - 135w HLG quantum board is perfect
Growing medium
Container
Ratchet straps
Ducting 4"
4" exhaust fan
Tent - 2x2.5x6 gorilla grow tent is good
Fan for circulation - clip or tower
Timer for lights
Hygrometer
Carbon filter
Nutrients depending on your method

You may need a humidifier/dehumidifier depending on your climate.

The kits are okay but most of it is low quality stuff that you'll end up replacing if funds allow within a year.

Hey burritoman! I'm a pretty recent newbie as well. Just got my first attempt underway. Lots to read and learn here. Tons of helpful friendly folks too! I went with the marshydro 2x2 tent and it's tight in there. I'm only growing 1 at a time but having to place a humidifier in the tent definitely ate up floor space. Do budget for all the accessories like Damien50 mentioned.

The full kits are not a bad way to go to get everything all at once. The mars ts1000 is by all accounts a very good lamp for the money. Consider how quiet/stealthy you need to be and how much space you have for the tent. You'll need to consider where the exhaust vent and possible duct will go as well. Placing things like the exhaust fan/filter inside the tent is quiet but takes up space.

The little extras you might need can eat up a budget quick but if you get quality stuff the first time it will last and work better. Don't forget things like a power strip, ph meter, temp and humidity sensors etc...

Good luck!

(edit: don't forget you'll need some $$ for seeds too!)
