Grow Mediums Grow in COCO?

One more thing dudes...

Even tho coco CAN be used as soil i really dont think you should.

IF you wanna use coco as soil i think you should use soil instead, with wet and dry cycles.

The thing about coco is that if one uses it as coco you will get hydro-like results and isent that what we all want?

Give soil to much water and one "clog" the soil and the roots wont get any oxygen, but thats not the case with coco.

The more water you give your coco the more oxegyn you give to the roots and one gets more growth and bigger yields.

i dont prove to be an expert, far from it, but i switch to coco to get that amazing hydro results and i wont get that if i dont threat it like coco..

I like to bubble my 24hrs with some calmag, in combination with Airpots you get insane roots, I was so shocked when i exposed the coco, large mass of thick white roots. My change to coco has improved my growing hugely, almost seems easier than soil.

there are many more postitive things with going coco instead of soil..then just the hydro yield that you mention Justin.. for instance.. if a problem is spotted, you will have the oportunity to do something with it right away. that puts you in full controll of here... instead of soil where you might have to wait for the next feeding. I find coco easier than soil in many ways..but it takes alittle more time and love when going with coco...more attention. dont get me wrong..im not saying DONT feed everyday. i`ve seen many great results with that, and i dont doubt it would maximise your yield. but im also saying..dont say you SHOULDNT go coco in soil way :Sharing One: im doing it,and i know more of us are, and im very happy with my results :) like said ,.there are many ways to go with coco :pighug:
nice input Kip :) ty :Sharing One: you tried adding some Rhizotonic in early grow? that should help get those roots runing around:tiphat:</p>

I agree my friend, coco is fantastic in more then one way. I love the fact that i am in full control of what i feed my plants, and the short amount of time it takes to fix problems with ph, lock outs etc etc.

But when i do something i always aim to do it "the best way" possible, and if keeping the coco wet at all times gives me the best result i really wanna share that info around.

Water/feed every day takes out all "guess" work, with lifting pots and wondering if the coco is dry enough...esp. for new growers. And takes away all risks of ph problems that you can run into if the coco gets to dry (been there done that), sure you have to spend more times watering your plants, but for me thats just more fun time with my hobby:) :)

My next step is dripper system that will fedd 3-5 times a day with run off.

I completely disagree with this Justin.

Different strokes for different folks i guess :), I don't mean to sound abrasive, But as i said before there's lots of different ways to use coco well.

The more water you give your coco the more oxegyn you give to the roots and one gets more growth and bigger yields.
That doesn't sound right.
The quicker your plant will drink the food, the more growth and bigger yields perhaps :) .. That's possibly why feeding little an often (like a drip) makes the roots drink up quicker ... and this means you can feed more.

i dont prove to be an expert, far from it, but i switch to coco to get that amazing hydro results and i wont get that if i dont threat it like coco..
It's great that you're getting good results, and in my opinion, you should carry on what your doing. If it works, stick with it! :)

Lets just not pigeon hole Coco with "This is the way to do it" .... Because it's not (the only way) ... (Canna hopefully agree with me ... i learned it from them ^_^)

Lets hug it out!

Feeding 3 times a day should be 3 little drinks, that make up the same amount of water as a normal, the difference being they are always fresh feeds....this is more like hydro. I don't believe you should continuously water if the medium is still wet, that could lead to all sorts of problems. Don't forgot coco can hold 1000x its own weight in water.

Read the back of a bag of coco, it even says do not overwater.

Ive read lots of grow diarys over at icmag where they uses dripper to run off 3-5 days with perfect results, and i hand water 2 times a day to run off with great results. i think one can owerwater coco when plants are to young after that im not so sure that you can...off course you can if you stand there all day watering but come on...lol

But hey, lets all threat coco the way we want.... we all like to stick to what we learned at whats working best.

Nice interesting debate going on here.....

You guys are showing why coco is such a great medium..... its versatility.... to provide great results with different feeding protocols according to what is best for the individual growers circumstances....
