Old Reviews Grow Assistant

Let me write to the owner and see what's up with that. I'm sure it can be fixed.

And direhit, if it's easy, then write one for the AFN community. sql databases and such are not easy for 99% of people to understand. So it'd be awesome if you didn't generalize like that, 'cause it really makes me feel dumb as I don't understand that stuff. And it's made for dispensaries and caregivers to keep state compliant. Not necessarily for the illicit grower.

Excel sheets.. Easy, free and paranoia free since the 80's :P

From growassistant:

1. The expiration issue should not be happening... My suggestion would be for them to.
a. Uninstall the program
b. If on windows delete the folder My Documents/Grow Assistant.
I suspect that there are files living in there from the last time they used the "free" version

2. The program does the following.
A. On A Mac the program will verify your serial number against our website. You can block this easily with the following host addition.

Code:
register.growassistant.com 127.0.0.1

B. On a windows machine the program currently does not call to in any fashion outside what is listed in the privacy section.
http://www.growassistant.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12&Itemid=9

The privacy policy states it only accesses the registration number to verify it's a legit install. If you were using a hosted version, then it's a different story. But, using it locally on your machine, nothing to worry about.

Hello all,

I'm the developer for the Grow Assistant, Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regarding the Trial version issue you were having I believe the fix is listed below, I have not heard of anyone having this issue before but would love to ensure the software is working for you.

Regarding the program "sending" information. As mentioned above there was a time "pre version 4.0 I believe" where anonymous data was sent back to me so I could judge how people were using the software. Understandably this was met with some distain so I turned all that off. I will also be turning off registration verification (for mac, it's already off for windows) in the next version.

Regarding the Government having control over domains.... I don't understand how this would effect the use of the software from your stand point?

Regarding putting information into the software.
A. I sell this software to people who only use it for legal means... it might be marijuana in your state, or it might be roses for all I know?
B. this is just my opinion here but it seems to me that if you were doing something illegal there would be much more evidence than what this program shows.
C. And lastly, I have built a nice hidden feature into the software just for this purpose... On any plant you can simply type "**clearall" in the plantID field, click OK, and all your data will be erased...
D. You are on a website that talks exclusively about Marijuana use and cultivation.... seems a bit of a contradiction to be fine with this website but not software when what you say on either could be looked at under the same light...

Other posters have mentioned that you can create this software yourself, YOU CAN!!! and others do, check them out... I sell my software (pretty cheaply IMHO) because this is (among other projects) how I make my living. Surely you can't fault me for that?

Here's the free program which i think the paid one copied blatantly imo. http://herbiq.codeplex.com/. It's called HerbIQ it has all the features above except it only runs on windows i believe.

Update: Runs on linux/mac via silverlight

Cheers for coming over geekygrower....

Cheers Bro...it was Me that asked..I Have to ask the questions coz I'm not very Good at knowing what to avoid.
I Though if it was For Legal Caregivers that there might actually be a Legitimate Hook-up at the back of the system for the Licencing agencies..

so they could inspect your Records..and give you your Compliance.

A. I sell this software to people who only use it for
legal means... it might be marijuana in your state, or it might be roses for all

Yup..I'm getting you...

B. this is just my opinion here but it seems to me

Ha ha...Yup...but We Know US...we don't know You yet....:D...

Not at All bro....
I had a look at the packages and I Think the cheapest does up to about 250 plants..
I couldn't see myself needing anything more than that...so I would be Happy with that for the price.....

herbIQ doesn't run on a mac. Only 1 tab works right now, the developer is working on the full mac version, but won't be released for a few months at least.

Greetings and welcome geekygrower :)

Firstly thank you for your help in getting the software to start.

Now I have a few other issues I would like to bring to your attention:
The first one had me staring at the software scratching my head for a few minutes, would turn many people off this software if they experienced the same and had little computer experience.

So after deleting everything I could find on my computer that had anything to do with Grow Assistant I downloaded the software again from the site and installed it.
I started the software and got: (I get this every time I open the software)
G1_[800x600].JPG

I clicked "System Settings"
Then got:
G2_[800x600].JPG

Clicked OK and got:
G3_[800x600].JPG

I got a little excited thinking I was going to get some data to help me use the software.
So I clicked "Yes" and was presented with:
G4_[800x600].JPG

If sample data only comes with the paid for software then you should remove that popup from trial software.
And after clicking OK you get:
G5_[800x600].JPG
No other popups or instructions, it just sits there like that, not good, not good at all.
This only happens if you click "YES" to get sample data, if you click "NO" on the "get sample data" popup then the software setup instructions continue as normal.

And after a few more clicks I was set to play
G10_[800x600].JPG

Played around for a bit, then closed the software and had the following jammed in my face:
G6_[800x600].JPG

So does the above popup occur every time you close the software in the paid for version?
