New Grower Gratefully green husband

@Mañ'O'Green BTW, what size pots would you recommend? I'm thinking 4, 5 gal pots in a 4'x4' for a first time.
I have not grown in soil indoors for the last 10 years. I have a bad back and cannot move heavy pots around. Pumps do all the heavy lifting now. It would seem to me that 3 gal. for an auto should be plenty but research it in the soil grow forum.

A trick when you start in a big pot is to water just around the edge of where you think the roots are. Shallow at first and then just increase the diameter and deeper as the plant grows. By the end of 14 to 20 days you should be watering the whole pot to about 10% runoff.

I don't know but I would get a dehumidifier after you fire it all up and see what happens. If you don't need it , don't bother.
Your right. Are they efficient enough to not need a secondary unit? :peace:

Sent from my comfy chair.

There is a lot of science behind all of the climate questions but nothing beats observation when it comes to what we are doing in these small spaces. Just start off with the basics. Lights, exhaust fan, and circulation fan or fans, then observe the conditions. The Pulse Nano (test thread) we have been testing is about to make it to market. This would be a very useful tool for you to own. Then make the necessary additions to make the environment as friendly as practical.

For the light(s), if you’re interested in COBs, you should have a chat with @BigSm0. He runs cobshop.net and he’s a straight shooter. He can talk all day about lights.

@BigSm0 I was checking out your lights. 600w for $500, nice. Anyone on here using your lights?

On the main form page click on Grow Light Companies. Then click on Cobshop.net.

In that subforum you will find that there are TONS of people growing using @BigSm0 autocobs. There are a lot of very impressive results as well.

Ok so what is the temperature in the garage on a 90° day?

You put 50 growers in a room and ask them you are likely to get 50 germination methods; I am not kidding:shrug:. Mother nature adds water, warmth and day with night.
@Mañ'O'Green Hey Man, I got a couple Hygrometers with Temp and High/ Low readings. Placed one in the house for now and one in the garage. First of all, we have been having what feels like a mild summer so far, not as sweltering as it can get for July. Although the daily highs have been about 90 lately it has been dry with lower than normal RH because it really hasn't rained in a few weeks.

When I open the garage in the morning the high temp for the day has been 95 with a low of 72. RH was at about 52% upon entering and shot up 10 points very quickly with the door open. RH low of 41 and high of 70 had been recorded. I think the low was from when I put the battery in so I;m not sure of the low reading because both devices have the same low. Really wonder about the accuracy of any of these devices. I need to get a thermometer and hygrometer that can be calibrated to know for sure. Anyway, that's a completely sealed garage with the only air exchange being soffit vents and peak vents and air leaks from the garage door and no insulation. I will observe these conditions for the rest of time (as long as this is where I'm growing). I think it will all be manageable with dehumidifier, AC unit, heater and humidifier (winter).

95°F is getting high. The humidity is ok for that temperature. If you grow tropical Sativa strains over the summer they can take these conditions. It is going to be a lot harder to get the heat down than it will be to warm things up.

Update: My seed order has left the UK headed for Customs. I guess I'll knosumptin' Monday, Monday. Once they clear the Feds I'll be orderin' some supplies. I ordered 1 kernel of FB Tangie'matic that I want to get in a outdoor pot before the end of July. It grows a little bigger and has a longer life cycle (it should be ready for harvest during the first or 2nd week of Octoberfest) than the other genetics I ordered for my 1st tent grow. I want to be able to see how these autos grow and test the RO water system before I put all my investment to the test indoor and for real for the 1st time. Keep smilin' :cools:
