New Grower Gratefully green husband

Glad to see you started right, look ask and think before just throwing away money. I'd say start slowly, then you can buy more as time goes on. 3 gallon pots are good sized, use less soil, which is money. Light, autocobs are excellent light, no doubt. Seed choices are great!
Tall tent is a must.

So good to see you moving forward , dont forget to buy the wifey something.
Heavenly seeds has great heirloom seeds for her garden. Their tomatoes have done well this year for me.

@Dudeski Thanks Dudeski, I thought about going with 3 gal. but since it's my 1st grow, I want to get my feet wet and not really get to upset if things go wrong. I am going to go with a living soil and the manufacturer recommends 1lb/5 gal of medium, so I am just going to go with recommendations and take notes and adjust and tweak things as my skills improve. I dreaming of big delicious nuggs and mega yields, we'll see how it goes.

BTW, I decided to go DYI on my grow tent since I can make an 8x8 for about, $100 bare minimum, but I'm spending about $200. I will take pictures and do a write up under the DYI thread. It's going to be 8x8x8'6" to start. And the beauty is I can go as big as I like.

Thanks for the Heirloom seeds tip. it will be put to good use.

I have ordered almost everything I need to get started. I am going to clean my grow space (clean and bug bomb the garage and the yard, then clean it again) and build my tent during August and let some of the summer temps fade before I begin although it's tempting to start right away. I was going to put a seed in a 15 gal pot and put it in the back yard but I don't really want to draw any unwanted attention before I even begin so I decided against it, maybe next year.

Does the manufacturer recommend mixing the soil and letting it come to life for a bit before using it? You can and let the microbes go to work! Just keep it slightly moist. Sounds like this is going to be a fun journey

Nothing in the instructions about it but that is the plan. I thought that I really didn't need to let it cook before hand because if you mix a batch and place it in your pots you have to place a buffer between your seed and the hot mix. It will take a week or more before the roots reach the nutes and by then enough nutes will have cooked for a week and the roots should dig right in to the living soil, hopefully. I did ask how long activated nutes could be stored and they said theoretically indefinitely because it should go dormant and can be reconstituted with water and let in cook for a week or so.
I haven't seen any grows quite like this so it should be interesting to see what happens. I think controlling the environment and pests is the key. If I can do that the plant will do what it does with the food, water, CO2 and light I give it.

I am loving this already. 3 or 5 g pots should be fine. Ive done both, and im currently in 3s.
Organics was a great choice for simplicity and getting to learn how the plant normally grows too.
You can also save a lot on nutes. For the most part, bat guano is bat guano. Or mycos are mycos. You can save money on branding. Just check the npk.
Subbed in and ready to help with anything i can.

Think on it:
Does knowledge have intrinsic value or does it need to have a practical use to have value?

Glad your tuning in @Hypathetical Gardener Think I'm going to be needing some input Won't be long now though I was pushing for end of August but with this heat wave I'm now looking at mid September Besides getting my space together is taking longer than expected I have accumulated 99% of what I need to start Watch this space
