I'm not growing in soil, I grow in half soil / half coco, so it has to be watered daily.

For straight soil, I would typically water heavy when I planted the seed, and then not water for 7-10 days until the sprout was up, then I'd give each plant, IDK, maybe a solo cup worth? You don't want the peat moss drying out too much and going hydrophobic, I've had that happen and its a pain in the ass.

Fungus gnats are the only thing I've had to battle with. Get some fly strips to hang in your tent, use the mosquito bits weekly, and you shouldn't have any issues. I had a grow where they got away from me, and it was a disaster. Plus it stunted the heck out of my plants, so I ended up having to just cut them down and start over.

Thanks bro much appreciated !!

I don't see any light burn. Those all look very healthy.

The next few weeks of your grow is where I ALWAYS have problems.

Go buy some mosquito bits. Soak about 2 tablespoons in water, and use that to water with. It has a bacteria that likes to eat fungus gnat larvae.

Don't over water. This is the hardest part about growing in soil / peat moss for me, is in the next few weeks you can easily over water and make the plants sick. Be diligent about your water.

Strangely enough today I found some larvae in 2 of my plants mid watering !! but I’ve ordered some mosquito bits that’s arriving tomorow ready for next water could I throw some in a spray bottle and spray some before next water ? I scooped out the larvae ?

Yeah, thats something I do is mix up mosquito bits in water and foliar spray and soak the surface of the soil down. The larvae only live in like the top inch of soil, so a good misting with mosquito bit water will help. Do understand it takes a few days to work and only effect the larvae, so it takes some time for the adults to die off. I would also suggest getting a fly strip. They sell them at pretty much every hardware store, dollar store, etc. You know, the sticky strip thats like 3 feet long thats rolled up in a little canister. Those work great. Nasty, but work great.

Careful cause the mosquito bits will clog your sprayer. Filter through something first.

Something else you can do with the foliar spray is I've noticed good results using cal-mag in my foliar spray. I use 10ml to a quart spray bottle. You can do it at the same time as the mosquito bits. Make sure you spray the bottoms of the leaves because thats where they can absorb the most from. The first 4-5 weeks I do a foliar spray a few times a week. Maybe I'm projecting, but I feel like its given me good results and stronger plants.

@Blue_dreamer I took your advice an stuck a few fly strips up literally found them in the closest shop that sells random things. and yeah sticky as fuck !! i turned the fan down a notch so they don’t hit the plants or fall off, I’ll put some more up tomorow just didn’t have nowhere to hang them on I also ordered some dunks too. The mosquito bits will be enough I’m sure…but I like over kill haha. thanks for the help much appreciated it really couldn’t of come any sooner. So glad you brought it up bro

Yesterday they felt dry a day after the 400ml water I gave on Saturday “2 finger light” so I gave them 1.5litres each yesterday was worrying all night thinking I might of over watered it’s there first big big water….. but today there flourishing and I think I’ll stick to 1.5 litres now when the pot drys out. I’m sure they’ll handle it. Progress update 2 weeks and 2 days above soil…I know I post often at random times it’s more as memento for something I can look back on to learn from in future aswell as having the eagle eye of you guys. Crazy the change in 3 days !! So far so good.

I am sure someone is gonna come a long and explain why I'm wrong. But I have always operated under the notion that you should water until your soil is fully saturated. Then let it dry until it needs watered again. Don't try to measure amounts of water to make it just right. Water until it comes out the bottom. Then let it dry out. This will force the roots to dive deep for water, instead of staying close to the surface.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve also heard that too !! When I planted seed the pot was fully saturated, with 3 litres which caused a lil runoff. I sprayed the top down first week and slowly increasing the watering up til 1.5litres recently and I do plan to water until slight run off in the near future I just ment as for now I’ll stick to the 1.5litres if I’m wrong in doing this I’d like some advice also ? Should I water until runoff now I don’t know how much of the pot the roots have taken yet ? Hence the slow increase ?
