Photoperiod Gorilla Glue #4 & White Widow

Hey folks,

My plants are still green and healthy, so that's good lol. Growth has been a little slower than anticipated and I'm attributing this to (1) too much water too soon and (2) cooler temperatures in general.

A few pics:

Anyway, these are just about ready to be topped. I suspect that will happen tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Thanks for reading,

Things are chugging along :smoking:

The plants are now in their final 3 gallon containers. I observed no transplanting issues at all. I did dial my lights back a good 25% for 24 hours during the recovery period, which I think is a good idea.

Environment-wise, my lights currently around 400 PPFD and I'm maintaining around 24C in my tent along with an RH of 55-61%. I do have a new toy to help me with this:

The Inkbird has really shined a light on an issue I didn't realize I was facing: my AC Infinity RH Probe reads abnormally high! This explains a lot of issues I've been having in the past (crispy leaves late flower, harvested buds drying out too quickly in the tent, etc). The difference between my AC Infinity and Inkbird RH was a good 7%. This led me to put a third hydrometer in the tent, and that one aligns with the InkBird. After some research, it seems higher-than-normal reading on the AC Infinity is pretty common. Anyway, I'm now keeping my AC Inifinity at a constant speed and I let the Inkbird take care of temp/RH control via a space heater and humidifier. I'm definitely noticing an improvement :headbang:

I also just did a second round of topping on these plants. And once again, I had a little mishap lol. My intention was to top the White Widow a second time as I can tell it's going to be reasonably taller than the Gorilla Glue. So the White Widow was topped a second time, no problem. My intention with the GG was not to top it a second time, but rather do some pruning to deal with the super tight node spacing. Long story short, this selective pruning turned into an unintentional top. Oh well! This isn't as substantial as the last topping mishap I had during my last grow, but it's certainly reminiscent! You'd think I'd have learned by now, eh? Maybe next time.... :crying:

Looks good. I’ve grown both these strains all I can say is I hope you have cal mag and expect a lot of leaves on the WW

It's funny you mention the CalMag. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to CalMag and only really bother with it in coco. I try to use as little as possible. On my last run in coco, I never needed to exceed 2.5-3.0mL during late veg and had no calcium-related issues at all. The WW has shown a few of those characteristic calcium-deficient spots though at 3.0mL, so I've bumped it up closer to 4mL/gal. Seems to have sorted it.

What is your overall opinion on Canuk strains in general? This is my second run with Canuk genetics (did Green Crack and Bubba Kush last time) and I've found them "so-so", especially compared to the Dinafems I grew prior, which practically grew themselves. I question this whole "ELITE STRAIN" business and I suspect there's a lot of seed repackaging and questionable practices going on, but they were convenient and I like their website

Any suggestions on when to flip these to flower?

I hear people suggest once the net is 75% full. Does this mean budsites in 75% or just leaves in 75% of squares. I’m counting leaves in 78 of 128 squares, or 61% full. The struggle now is evening this canopy out, especially in those corners. The white widow on the right seems to be growing more toward the front rather than the back, so there’s also that to deal with lol.

Shout out to @Death The Cultivator who convinced me to scrog on my last grow. I’m loving it so far!
