Dutch Passion Gonzo grows Think Different in COCO under HS1

I have had issue with using ro water and coco. It has a natural mineral bonding quality, especially for salts and calcium. Probable to help the baby coconut palm handle the salt water. My plain hard tap water worked much better for my plants. I also would drop my ph much lower. Coco coir has a natural ph buffering to a high 6. I am pretty certain a 6.8 exactly. I would always drop down to a five range and allow about %20 run off each watering/feeding to prevent buildup. I did constant feedings too.

Oh yeah I also started to "precharge" the coco with a few tablespoons epsom salt when I re-hydrated it. That was with GH Maxi series and Earth Juice liquid grow/bloom.

PH should be @5,8, as it was last feeding (1l), but of course, because of too little outrun so far and some rhizotonic, which rises PH, it is higher. But I believe An will do the job. RO? Many people use it with AN nutes, my tap water is too carbonized, EC 0,46, thats why I use RO.

I will now send 2 l of 5,8 water through coco, to get some serious outrun and will be better.

I am afraid of strong watering, because I had read that coco should be a liitle dry first two/three weeks.

I use Procal calmag which is supposed to be quite strong.

No need to get defensive. You are talking about what you have heard, while I am talking about what I know from experience. Do what you wish my plants will be fine.

Hello,

16 days of my first coco growing have brought many troubles and worries but so far so good.

Last feeding was at the day before yesterday. Coco was totally saturated with 4l RO & 1,4ml Sensi GrowA&B each and 1 ml calmag (PH 5,8, EC 1,05). All per litre. Outrun PH went down from 6,5 initially to 6 at the end of watering. But no matter how much water I put in,total weight remains 8,8kg. Nice, not like soil.

Overall coco is nice experience, if this and next test grow succed, I will never grow in soil again. Maybe only in summer if coco behaves like hydro and is sensitive to heat?

Day 16

As wide as pot already with wingspan at 27cm.

Looking good Gonzo! :)

I love a bit of coco - i just presume what i put in is where the medium is (5.8 ph and 1.0 (*start) - 1.7(*finish) EC)

Hit me up when you've completed the grow and we'll get you a coconut badge! :D

I will contactyou, thanks.

Today I plant a new one in coco and I will start with EC1,0 or maybe little less, will see how much will 1ml AN and 0,5ml Calmag build up.

You finish with EC 1,7? What is it build up of?

Do you perhaps know if coco is temperature sensitive more than soil? I mean in hot summer. Are good grows posible in summer heat, because I do not see any possibilities to cool down coco like hydro.

Looking good buddy... I think you've just been over thinking things to be honest. I would just let the AN nutes do their thing and not worry about even checking the pH... I've never once adjusted my feeds, with soil or coco and have had good results every time.

Also I'm not aware of any extra sensitivity to high temperatures with coco. My last DP grow had average temps of 35 deg.C with peaks up to 40 during flowering and it didn't seem to phase them at all and that TD gave me 200g... so yes I'd say good grows are still possible. :smoking:

Mostly CannaCoco A&B would probably amount to about 1.4 of that - the extra would be from the Dutch Pro Explode (which is a PK and flowering booster that i use), and maybe a tiny bit of calmag.
Boost and Rhizotonic dont have a background EC - i like to stop the Rhizo a few weeks before becuase i don't want the buds to taste fishy lol (i'm not sure they would - but i take the precaution)

In the final feeding throws, i'll be adding CannaCoco A&B (base nutes) with Canna Boost and Dutch pro explode

In a 5 litre bottle, i would be adding around 10ml of A&B, 10ml of Boost and 5ml of Dutch Pro Explode. - This should take you to around 1.7. For minor tweeking (to get up to 1.7) i'd add a tiny bit more explode and re-check the EC. If for some reason it's too strong - just dilute it down with some extra water and then PH it.

Thanks HB, you really blow my worries away.

Thank you, Blue.
