Hello,

I had been curious about coco for some time, not long ago I decided to try it and so the journey begins.

I use:

- 1 x DP/GN HS1 light in flowering, less at the beginning
- 15l airpot
- Plagron Cocos Premium
- Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow and Bloom, Procal Calmag and Canna Rhizotonic.
- RO water and manual feeding

Switch to coco have not take much effort so far, I use standard equipment, the most time consuming thing was collecting information for a good start.

Seems that different coco grows are much easier to compare as ones in soil, bacause of similar components. Different cocos and RO waters are much more similar than different soils and tap waters, so precise instructions are easy to get here on AFN and follow precisely. And AN nutrients react the same in all RO waters around.

So I prepared my first coco pot, was very similar to soil preparations. I planted Think Different seed which had spent a day on wet towel in dark.

Before planting a seed, I watered coco with 1 liter of RO water with:

0,7 ml Sensi Grow A&B each
0,8 ml Calmag
0,4 ml Rhizo

EC was 0,65 and PH 6,05, a little bit higher that AN normal, but rhizo rises PH and I will use it in little quantities.

Watering did not make any outrun and was nice to watch how nicely coco distributes water around. Airpot with fresh coco weighted 6,7kg before watering and 7,7kg after. Knowing weight of pot helps me to follow what is going on.

And everything that has been going on so far looks very nice. Seems that coco will really be easier to control and easier to handle with as soil. At least it looks to me like that now.

So seed was sitting in wet coco for some days (it had just broken when planted) and baby came out. At day 1 coco seemed to be dry, weighting had confirmed that, 4 days had passed from watering and I watered again with 2 l of RO with similar stuff as above PH @ 6,95, EC 0,6.

Today baby is 4 days old and in three days from watering 1l of 2 had evaporated. That is just wonderfull.

I dont know exactly how I will water from now on, most probably 1 l every 3 days or so.

Three journals at once love it! I hope Coco means the end to your ph woes .

Hello Bunny and thank you. PH is a bitch, yes, would be nice to have it in order.
Subbed for this one Gonzo.:pop:
Good luck with the Coco, I think you're going like how well it works with AN.

HB wellcome! So far so good so I am full of expectations. And I really hope that famous PH Perfect will once work for me. In soil it didnt, no matter RO or my carbonized tap water. But coco, AN and RO work together well, as we can see around.

I had checked your recent grows to learn from you, you are doing really, really nice job, HB.

Hello everybody,

I have been in this grow for two weeks now, baby is today 10 days old.

A little pale, I think 2 liters of water on day 1 were too much and besides, 7 days until next watering was not OK too. I do not believe feed could be too weak. I will describe what I have done and would kindly ask anyone with coco experience to comment or advise. Baby is a little leggy, but I had put her under strong light a little bit too late and could not prevent some cm of unwanted stretch.

History:
Day minus5 - seed put into glass full of tap water.
Day minus4 - seed put into Plagron coco (15l) and watered with 1l RO water - ph 6,05, EC 0,65 (0,4 from AN, 0,25 from
calmag (0,7 sensiGrow A&B each + 0,8 Procal Calmag + 0,4 CannaRhizo
Coco from bag weighted 6,7kg and all together 7,7kg after watering.
Day 1 - 2 l RO water - ph 5,95 EC 0,58 (0,7 sensiGrow + 0,5 CaMg + 0,2 Rhizo) Rhizo rises PH, so I reduced it.
After this watering weight was 8,8 kg.
Day 3 - Pot weights 8,1kg now
Day 4 - 7,8kg
Day 5 - 7,6 kg
Day 6 - 7,4 kg
Day 7 - 7,2 kg (at this point there was 0,5l water in 15l coco, besides what comes with it in bag)
Baby was droopy and I watered immediatelly. The reason why I had been waiting so long with next watering was my impression, that growth had been slowed by not really overwatering but lets say too much water around. And maybe too strong feed. Until bellow watering, weight dropped to 7kg.
Day 8 - 1 l RO water - PH 5,8, EC 0,6 (AN 0,7ml, Calmag 0,5ml). Rhizo out because of altering ph.
Day 9 & Day 10 - Baby recovered quickly and is growing nicely, but still too pale for my taste.

Am I right that 2l of water should be 1l only and watering more frequent would be better. And there was a little bit brown on the tip of one leave around day 6 (not from waterdrop), what could be sign of overfeeding or underfeeding, who would know.

The first picture shows real colour better, it is a little pale, what can not be seen in the second one.
