Hello,
I had been curious about coco for some time, not long ago I decided to try it and so the journey begins.
I use:
- 1 x DP/GN HS1 light in flowering, less at the beginning
- 15l airpot
- Plagron Cocos Premium
- Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow and Bloom, Procal Calmag and Canna Rhizotonic.
- RO water and manual feeding
Switch to coco have not take much effort so far, I use standard equipment, the most time consuming thing was collecting information for a good start.
Seems that different coco grows are much easier to compare as ones in soil, bacause of similar components. Different cocos and RO waters are much more similar than different soils and tap waters, so precise instructions are easy to get here on AFN and follow precisely. And AN nutrients react the same in all RO waters around.
So I prepared my first coco pot, was very similar to soil preparations. I planted Think Different seed which had spent a day on wet towel in dark.
Before planting a seed, I watered coco with 1 liter of RO water with:
0,7 ml Sensi Grow A&B each
0,8 ml Calmag
0,4 ml Rhizo
EC was 0,65 and PH 6,05, a little bit higher that AN normal, but rhizo rises PH and I will use it in little quantities.
Watering did not make any outrun and was nice to watch how nicely coco distributes water around. Airpot with fresh coco weighted 6,7kg before watering and 7,7kg after. Knowing weight of pot helps me to follow what is going on.
And everything that has been going on so far looks very nice. Seems that coco will really be easier to control and easier to handle with as soil. At least it looks to me like that now.
So seed was sitting in wet coco for some days (it had just broken when planted) and baby came out. At day 1 coco seemed to be dry, weighting had confirmed that, 4 days had passed from watering and I watered again with 2 l of RO with similar stuff as above PH @ 6,95, EC 0,6.
Today baby is 4 days old and in three days from watering 1l of 2 had evaporated. That is just wonderfull.
I dont know exactly how I will water from now on, most probably 1 l every 3 days or so.
