New Grower "GodAmJT's Perpetual Greenery"

It sure is growing like a weed ... you've learned a lot and it shows ... I like the LED that Nomis uses for a good inexpensive light ... Quality used lights can be purchased on Ebay for good prices ... I'm fond of the Advanced LED Extreme Flower Series .... I'm thinking my summer grow might be a single plant lit by an Extreme Flower 120 to keep the heat down ... Good job ...

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the info!!! I've been checking out almost every type of LED grow light and I had read a thread either on here or on another forum that gave a website for a direct source from China, costing nearly a 1/4 of what you see on Amazon or EBay, so I had also considered that.. In fact, if I can dig up the link, I'll send it to you so you can check it out! Apparently the customer service is actually pretty good, however since it's coming from China, shipping could take a little while, so if you aren't in a rush and didn't want to spend $600 for a light when you could get it for $200 shipped; almost makes sense :)

Thanks for the encouragement, too!! I call this thing my "Project," as sort of code for when I'm talking to my gf or my roommate when they're helping me out when I'm out of town or not able to check things.. I love science, and have sort of treated this like a science experiment, so I've got a printed out calendar that I'm recording all of my relevant data points so I can see if there are trends or if there are things that I'm missing.. I wish I had done a better job of keeping track of which seed was which, but I think this is the La Diva seed by the way it's growing and by checking out pictures of other people's La Diva grows.. Mine's a bit on the skinny side, but like I said, lots of bud sites!.. I'm hoping for 14g's when it's all said and done, but I'll take what I can get.. I've decided to hold off on germinating the seed just yet until I can figure out my lighting situation.. I wanted to germ it and leave it in the humidome for as long as I can and then put the larger catch basin back in so I can have 2 plants at once.. I would just need to think about how I'm going to keep my humidity good..

The light Nomis uses was about $200 new on Ebay ... it does a great job ... I think he has a review in the LED forum ... there are a lot of considerations when purchasing a light. I have 3 Advanced LED Lights .. I like the 2 smaller ones, the bigger one is like sticking a lighthouse in a closet and should be used by someone w/ ventilation and cooling so I guess I went too big (DS400) ... It works well in the winter although even then I had to deal w/ higher temperatures ... Unless a grower is lucky or damned good the first few auto grows come out small ... after a couple grows it gets easier ...

I definitely understand what you're saying!! I want to eventually do almost completely LED growing, but still use some T5/T8s as additional lighting since they are both relatively efficient at what they do and relatively inexpensive so between the 2 of those, I should be able to grow twice as big next time!! I think now, it's just a matter of money and extra time!! College started back up for the Summer and this one promises to be a rough one; 2nd to last Semester and I'm done though!!

This plant is just kinda cruising along so far; nothing too crazy to update.. The smell is starting to get more and more pungent!!! I brushed against the side of the brand when I was changing the water in the humidifier and my hand/arm STILL smell!!!! When I did the res change yesterday, ppm were at ~770 and pH was at a 5.7.. After this morning's feeding, ppm was down to ~640 and pH was up to 6.1, looking like the plant/rockwool took about a half gallon of water and a bunch of nutes!! The leaves are starting to get frosty and today is day 47.. These buds are starting to get a bit bigger.. I have to remind myself to stop staring at it because I feel like it's not growing, but when I go back and check out pictures from last week, it's amazing how much bigger it's got!!!

Anyway, here are some pics from a couple days ago.. It's really starting to fill out where it looked super-scrawny before.. I think I may end up getting a tent sooner than I thought because this enclosure may not be big enough to grow the size of plant I want, or I have to come up with a better way for humidity and get rid of this extremely large obstacle in the grow space.. I could get a good-sized ScrOG net going in there if it wasn't for the fact the humidifier is large.. I may see about modifying the back wall so that I can just pop that out to do water changes so I can leave stuff more stationary but my next grow will be more LED-centric and possibly use 2-4ft T5s as supplemental lighting.. I'm always scouring Craigslist and local ads for cheap and free stuff like lighting and anything that could make this grow more efficient!

Why do you have a humidifier in your space ... Plant looks good ... :tiphat:

Google topled. Pretty good china leds and not only are they cheap but there are a lot of journals around with them if you google their lights.

Hey Chester: Good question.. I am getting ready to take it out I think as the ambient humidity was extremely low at the start of my grow, mostly in the teens for percentage! I have it on a very low setting right now and the humidity is hovering between 40-50%. I am considering taking it out and putting the smaller one I have in there full of water and just having it ready to turn on in the event I need more humidity.. With these Summer months approaching, I'm probably going to want the room for either another fan or maybe just for the next plant!

I started to germinate my other Auto seed and turned out to be a dud :/ Kinda disappointed but no bother: I ordered some more seeds from Herbie's. I was originally thinking of doing a GDP photo from clone from a buddy of mine but his last crop of mothers became infested with spider mites and destroyed most of his best specimen, so now all he has are seeds. I'm going to stick with Autos for the time being since I want to be able to reliably get a decent product every time.. I went with Jack Herer seeds, so I'm pretty excited about that!! I was also considering the DP line of seeds.. I know a lot of folks are growing them and they have great success!

Freiya: Thanks for the info!!!!! My next BIG move is going to be to develop a larger grow area. I was thinking a tent but when I was in Lowe's yesterday, I saw a tall storage locker that would be PERFECT for a sort of "stealth" grow! It's about the same price as a tent but has more structural integrity and already has built-in shelves for my res and brackets for "shelving" which would turn out to be perfect to hang lighting from!! Now I just need to figure out where the hell I'm going to put it!

Stanky is all I have to say!!! I haven't bought a filter yet but I really need to consider it!! lol

I guess I need to keep myself away from the plant for a couple days so I actually notice the difference between before and after.. I thought the plant was sort of just slowly bulking up but when I look at the pictures from about a week or so ago, the buds have become quite a bit bigger and the leaves are starting to get frosty!!! I'm still banking on another 3-4 weeks at LEAST before this thing is ready to come down.. I started getting a little nute burn at the tips of a bunch of the leaves, and I'm not sure if I'm using the term correctly, but kayaking, of the leaves, or where they seem to be curling the way they are.. I had switched to feeding twice a day with the top-drip at a ppm of 780 starting and a pH of 5.7.. There aren't any other spots or unusual marks of note, except a few leaves that have been too close to some of the lights and I've clipped off the dried-up/dead pieces.. I haven't taken the humidifier out but it hasn't been on in over a week, as the humidity has been relatively steady between 30-50%, depending on the time of day.. I've since stopped the twice a day feeding, but I was almost thinking that maybe if I cut the ppm back, I could do a twice a day feeding with a positive result. I do my reservoir changes on Wednesdays, so I was hoping someone might be able to answer that question. Otherwise, here are some pictures........
