Lighting Gloom's first... everything. DWC LED.

Day 28.

Just realised i must have switched my seedlings around when they were young...only just occured to me why one of the think differents looked so much like the older auto pounder, and why one of the auto pounders looked so much like a think different... it all makes sense now. lol. Nothing more to add.

Day 29... I really dont like my bluelab ph pen... im still getting used to it i guess, and its probably more accurate than my other pen...which is probably why i dont like it. Just doesn't seem to hold its calibration and every time i check my buckets im like thats not right so i recalibrate it...and its like 0.1 out. it could be because i'm using a different electrode storage solution to the bluelab recommended one...or something... Or possibly my calibration solutions being contaminated...or possibly me just being used to the readings that the old pen gave me and expecting to see them...

I should quit bitching...its probably an awesome unit i'm just used to the dodgy one that gives the wrong measurements.

On with the pics.

Auto pounders are streeeeetchin. Flowering nutes start day after tomorrow.

Dont think im gonna fill this tent with 5 plants, heh.

Doing a rez change later. On to flowering nutes! Still not sure if canna boost works with dutch master zone. But I'll just chuck it all in there and hope for the best I think.

Seriously considering adding another light in between my two. At the moment my lights are above 2 plants on each side on a light mover, and the plant in the middle gets a bit of light from each side. If I add another light in the middle I have the added bonus of it lighting the middle plant intensely and then all of the side plants will get extra light from the middle. At the moment I have 2x mars II 900w (pulling 800-900watts) and there is room in the middle for another 900w. Or even a 1200 watt. Tossed up on whether I should go with the 1200 (600watt draw) or another 900 ( 400 watt draw)

Damn... now that I've looked into it more im also posed the question of whether I should add another standard spectrum or a flowering spectrum for an extra $90. Decisions decisions...

I ran 1 light for the first 2.5 weeks. Then I turned on the second light... if I went with a standard spectrum it would be tempting to run 6 plants in 3 rows of 2. Im not grow savvy enough to know if 3 plants wide is even feasible in a 2 metre tent.

Ummmmm. Yeah I dunno. Pretty sure I'll add another light... size and spectrum are another matter...

Power consumption is obviously a concern as well. So another light in the middle that I turn on from day 35ish onwards in flowering spectrum would be more economical than a third light that comes on at week 2.5...

Day 31 - Rez change.

85L water
50ml Bloom Calmag
20ml Dutch Master Silicon
30ml Dutch Master Zone
43ml Canna Rhizotonic
150ml Canna Classic Flores A+B
85ml Canna Boost
Ph to 5.8

I literally hate my bluelab ph meter. I calibrated it 4 times today during my rez change, because i dont trust it and each time it had strayed 0.1-0.2 from norm. Also...I PH'd my tub to 5.8, then spent an hour dishing it out into buckets n cleaning them and emptying old water n stuff, got it all done checked the ph and it was at 6.2 So I calibrated my meter and ph'd them to 5.8 again. Then i wanted to drop a seed in water so i got out the meter to ph the water. Put it in plain water and it was telling me my water is 6.8...when its usually like 7.3-7.5. So i calibrated it again... I dunno if i got a dud or what but this thing is junk.

Ladies are growing though.

For all I've read about how great Blue Labs pens are, this is like the third time I've read this. Sometimes, the most expensive is NOT the best. I've gone thru 3 meters and my HM meters are the best I have owned and the price is reasonable. Both my PH and PPM meters never need calibrating in over 45 days! And I check them now, every other day. Always right on. I've got less than $100 in the pair and couldn't be happier.

It may have something to do with me not treating it right im not sure. Lile the cap has this sponge thing u put drops of storage solution in... and when I was using it I managed to dip the cap in the nutes so I sat the meter and cap on top of a light to dry out the cap... it may have dried out the sensor as well causing it to go out of calib. I also wonder if when calibrating repeatedly I may contaminate my solutions changing their ph by a point or two...

I gave up on the storage solution and keep my HM in a cup of RO 7.0 water. Use it, rinse it, put it back with never a problem. Did you clean the nutes out of the sponge in the cap? You really should if you're going to use it. The nutes can leave a coating on the probe tip. Try soaking the meter in clean water instead and see if you still have problems after. "My 2 cents"

Bluelab meter actually says never to use distilled or ro water to rinse or store it. I just tapped the cap out and sort of dried it on my led fan output. I might try storing in water at 7.0

Day 35. Things are looking GRRRREAAAT.

Tent is filling in nicely. Pounders have more height on them than the TD's but TD's are more bushy, put some spacers under the TD's to give them a fair share of the light. I have a third 900w Mars II in the mail, end of this week early next week i will have 3 lights running, and the middle plant will get a fighting chance, but also the edge lighting from the middle LED is going to hit ALL of the plants. Meant to be 30 days to go and counting...I think the pounders are further into flowering than the TD's...seem more developed. Might end up running over 75 days with the TD's. TBH I will probably try to go as late as i can practically... I really wanna impress some mates/knock some socks off.
