[Free Stuff] Official AFN Hello from Greenleaf Nutrients!

Ya 7.5 is high wouldnt do that I was think 6.5 unless someone can tell me. And go from there. Not sure if all soils buffer, i know ffof does and biobizz does. Still trying to learn some different mediums. Pro mix is what I have used the most. When I 1st started growing I thought hydro meant was only grown in water, but now I know not the case. So just cause it looks like soil dont meant you treat it like it lol. That is where i get confused. Thanks @Mizzo81 you have been more help than Google hahaha.

I never really worried much about my ph much with plain old dirt but I know for sure I won’t be able to get away with not paying attention to PH if I’m growing in other things & adding nutes. I was going to start a 4th plant (3 going right now) & I thought why not do it in megacrop before committing several plants to it? I’ll admit I just want to try it sooner lol

so looks like I have to do some shopping. Ph up & down, cal-mag, megacrop and botanicare coco.

hmm is that all I need to test this megacrop out? Oh I need to decide on a reliable way to test it the ph. Maybe test strips? They’re cheap! But I wonder if they can show small subtle changes precisely enough in the testable ranges occurring ? Some ph paper is really hard to match closely enough to the color. I saw some cheap ph testers on amazon.

If growing in 3gallon fabric pots I’m guessing I’d be PHing the water & megacrop as it’s going in ?
and possibly also testing runoff ? I feel like a ph pen meter thing wouldn’t test runoff really well & id be better off w/ strips.

McDee it's comes down to what the primary component is in the soilless mixes: Promix, Biobizz are peat based, very few other components, usually some lime for pH buffering... Those work best a bit lower in pH vs/ soil, around 6.0 or so,.. (soilless) coco is also like that, 5.8-6.0,..... OF is a true soil BTW, and the best range for that is mid 6's or a bit lower. I'm sure you read my comments about their soils, mainly OF ? Very often the pH is WTF low, like in the low 5's! It's undercooked slap together crap usually, but some folks still get OK bags.. I figure this is a regional sourcing/manufacturing deal,...

...pH adjusting, if needed should be done last, with any Ca-Mg going in first; generally it's not recommended to pH adjust organic-based nutes, some companies specifically tell you not to... parlt is because the solution may be too acidic, but once in the soil with the buffering effect of components and microbes, it may be corrected readily,... adding in adjusters does add in more ppm's, and sometimes P or K... too much ppm's make the solution hard on the soil life potentially as well, plus the harshness of some of the correction solutions

Lol on their website they mention nothing of peat when I’m looking at the product. Don’t like that. I’ve mentioned staying away from peat. Why I use coco in fact supposedly the coco is collected from coconut plants so it’s a waste product from another industry being reused much better then harvesting Canadian peat bogs that take time to regrow

I have grown in coco, awesome to awesome. My tent got quickly outgrown and hand watering 5 times a day is to hard to keep up with I tried lol. Pro mix has good bot of peat in it to. I like reusing stuff but the coco stays on the shelf for now. I put mine used stuff back into my yard, may try and reuse some 1 of these days.

So my target range for biobizz light is 6.0-6.3? I will be using MC shortly got it, just have to go through my AN sensi grow. That comes out around 5.3 so have to ph up. Going to be moving all over to @Greenleaf Nutrients as soon as I use up others. Once I get some cash for xmass need to grab their calmag, sweet candy, and a few others I saw. Yes, I now put calmag 1st. I read an article about it a few months ago. I dont see many mentioning that so hat tip to you! Thanks for info, any more tips for the biobizz let me know.

@Waira just so I have it correct. Pro mix and biobizz are soil, but since they have peat they like it little lower? They're not soilless like coco loco? I thought pro mix was considered soilless because Pro mix stated their optimal range was 5.8-6.2. If I remember correctly my MC came to 6.0-6.2 without ph'ing so I should just let it go at that then?
